When Gerdy’s rescued CeeCee she was emaciated at 19 lbs, a skeleton really, and couldn’t stand up. With TLC, wonderful vet care and CeeCee’s strong will to survive she is now a happy, healthy 45 lb. pound princess.

She prances out of pure joy and kisses to show her gratitude and affection for everything human. She is great with kids, cats and dogs and loves to run and play. We are now ready to share CeeCee with some wonderful, deserving family.

She is ready for adoption and will need to find a home out of Montreal proper where there is no ban on dogs that look like her. She is approximately 3-4 years old, a mixed breed. She is sterilized and fully vaccinated.

A house vs an apartment or duplex, someone with flexible hours and a fenced in yard is preferred. She needs some work on house training and will bark when left alone too long.

Daisy’s owner died (this was her second owner) and a family member brought her to a city pound for euthanasia. Gerdys came to Daisy's rescue and placed her with a loving, caring foster home.

She needed urgent dental care which Gerdy’s provided and she is sterilized and now up-to-date on her vaccines. We estimate her age at 8+ years and she is a Cockapoo. Daisy is sweet and kind and loving and playful.  Her foster mom says, “she's absolutely no trouble” and that "Daisy gets along with other dogs and cats and she likes to be patted but on her terms only. When she’s had enough she will warn you."

We highly suspect that she is a bit defensive because of probable abuse from her first owner. She walks super well on the leash and adores her walks! She is housetrained but will pee on a pad if left in the house for too long. She is an OCD ball retriever so she will require someone willing to toss the ball, ad infinitum, for her to fetch (but only in the house)!  No kids please. Another dog or cat would be great.

Meet Tipper a lovely border collie/lab cross, seven years of age, due to a divorce is being reluctantly surrendered.

He is neutered with all vaccines up to date. He has had two levels of obedience training and agility training. He is super obedient! He walks well on leash, loves to be as active or inactive as you want to be. Adores car rides, swimming and playing ball.

Not a big barker only when the doorbell rings. He is friendly, affectionate and loves to be patted and near people. The kitchen is his favourite room of the house. He weighs approximately 65 lbs. and has a beautiful thick coat of hair when fully grown in, so you must like grooming.

He is good when people are in the house but tends to get anxious when left to himself, so he needs to be crated. Cat and dog friendly but not with aggressive dogs. Tipper is really an all around good guy.

Abandoned twice through no fault of her own, Niki is Insecure and terrified of being let go yet again. She quickly attached herself to her new foster Mom, wanting cuddles and making her the entire focus.

She prefers women to men, tolerates cats but can live with them and ok with other small dogs in the house but so far hasn’t engaged in play. Niki isn’t a fan of being left alone, she whimpers and cries.

She loves being outside and loves to walk. She is good in the car. She is 4 1/2 years old and weighs 10 lbs., is up to date on vaccines and is spayed.

Niki’s ideal home would be a house vs. an apartment, a female owner with girls in the house and another small dog who is not too demanding of her.

If interested, please only send emails to

This beauty -a 2 year old English Lab - was recently the constant companion of an elderly gentleman who passed away before the holidays.

She spent the first days in her foster home looking to get back home to her owner. Now she has settled in and is enjoying her treasured long walks and even doing well with their 2 dogs.

She walks well on leash, loves to be active and loves to swim. Getting her out the door is a show---she barks out of total excitement until your coat and boots are on and she is out the door.

Then she is calm again.  She is very playful, friendly, affectionate and loves to give kisses. Sacha can be timid and skittish around small children and in new circumstances. She weighs approximately 55 lbs.

We are looking for an active, adult family in the suburbs with a fully fenced yard, perhaps another large dog and preferably no cats or other small animals. Adult (16+) children only.

If interested, please only send emails to

This beautiful stray was taken in from the cold of winter after spending the end of December and all January outside.  A kind woman realized he was abandoned, starved for food and took him in.  She was unable  to keep him because she is very allergic.

She found that TOBY is an INCREDIBLY gentle, loving and affectionate cat.  She took him to the vet  where TOBY was confirmed a sterilized male, around a year old, treated for fleas, then a month later vetted where he was microchipped with registration pending a new owner, core vaccines provided (booster due on April 22) and Rabies vaccine done.

He  has his claws, but does not use them he ONLY uses the scratching post! Toby is an outstanding boy, and is going to make someone a marvellous pet, could that someone be you?

Surprise needs a new home as soon as possible, she is about 4 years old and is spayed and DECLAWED.  Surprise will need to have a home with NO other animal and children not under 6-7 years old.

Surprise needs a home with people who care about her health and will not overfeed her but will control her food intake.  She is obsessed with food so needs your help to monitor her intake to lose weight to a healthy level.

She is eating T/D Hills formula and is in the process of losing weight.  A new home is needed ASAP!  Can you help this cat—she has 2 weeks to find a new home!

The perfect housemate, Blackjack is a DREAM soul mate!  He will greet you at the door when you come home, and is so affectionate you will feel sooo appreciated after a long day’s work.

He would even LOVE to sleep beside you at night and keep you company. You can relax from your daily stress by brushing him for hours —he LOVES to be gently brushed as long as you feel like it.  He will even follow you to the bathroom and wait patiently for you beside the tub if given the opportunity!

He is truly a nice, gentle cat.  However, he wants to be the ONLY cat in your life so he can worship and spoil only his humans!  He tolerates a dog,  but he would prefer a calm dog already familiar with a cat. Children 5+ years as he likes to be treated gently.

Sometimes he can be a little shy but once used to a person, warms up quickly and is such a GREAT cat.  Blackjack is neutered with vaccines up to date. He is a Chantilly cat with medium long hair all beautiful midnight black.

If you want to be a lovingly pampered person, you need Blackjack!

ARLO is about a year and a half old, neutered and vaccinated to date. FIV/FeLV tested negative. He is an indoor only cat with a GREAT personality.

He Gives hugs—he climbs onto your chest, his paws on either side of your neck, and gives gentle, loving hugs. He is a BROWN TABBY and a little underweight.

Currently eating Royal Canin Indoor 27 and Almo chicken, canned. No issues with anything have been noticed, a good cat, slightly nervous of a dog at first but adjusts.

His family has moved away and his foster cannot keep him past April 25—PLEASE give ARLO the home he deserves!

My name is KiKi and at 13 years of age I was dumped at the Montreal SPCA in a horrible state!

I am a male poodle mix,18 lbs.  I am house trained and leash trained. Dog friendly, people friendly, cat friendly I do suffer from some anxiety when left alone, no destruction just crying so no apartments please.

Vaccinated, neutered, micro chipped, dental done. I have a Grade 3 heart murmur but a in great shape.

My name is Lenny! Don’t let these pics of me fool you … I look like I could be a lab puppy but I am a 12 year old Chihuahua mix! Abandoned as a senior by my family I cannot tell you what my life was like before my awesomesauce foster mom came to pick me up at the shelter but I can tell you what my life is like now.

IT IS AMAZING!  In foster care I have pugs to hang out with and even cats! I love them all so much, they are great company for when my foster mom leaves to go to work. I am left alone full work day, uncrated with no destruction whatsoever. Happy to snooze the day away waiting patiently for her return. I do, do my business outside when I am outside but can have accidents in the home though when left for longer periods of time. I think it is normal based on my age and also being in a new home learning all the new rules. But I am a smart little man so I hope I can figure out how not to make little mistakes.

I am perfect walking on the leash and I love my mini walks very much. And while I am not overly vocal per say when the pugs start barking I am more than happy to join in even though I have absolutely no idea why I am barking! I am a little standoffish with people, I desperately want loving so very much but am just shy and do not know how to ask for it. So a calm and patient and loving home would be ideal for me. Clearly I did not get a lot of cuddles in the past as they seem quite foreign to me now when my foster mama gives them to me. I can tell you though that I do love the attention very much.

I have not been around any children but at 12 years old I think I would prefer the grandkids visiting for a couple of hours rather than living in an active bustling loud home with young children. I just want to chill and hang out and go for walks and nap and eat! I arrived in foster care quite skinny so even though I am 12lbs I probably could gain another couple of pounds to be at a healthier weight.

I am a little stressed on car rides and need the emotional support of kind words and pets to let me know that everything is going to be ok. Clearly I am just not that used to them so maybe the more often I get out for mini drives the more my confidence will build… who knows?

I asked my foster mom what was my WORST quality when I was writing my profile and she responded that the worst thing about me is that I am ABSOLUTELY PERFECT … I love my foster mom, she always makes me feel like I am a Number One Top Dog! I am not used to feeling that way about myself but boy-oh-boy I can tell you I am learning to love this feeling.

Foster mom wanted to add her own little note about me to my profile so here is what she has to say: “You can see that he had a hard life. He is unsure on how to behave in a house.  He wants cuddles and to be pet, but he doesn't know how to ask for it. He needs a quiet home, with a soft bed for him to lie in.

Vet History: base vaccinated (booster due January 2017), rabies vaccinated (revaccination date December 2017), neutered, dental cleaning, dewormed. Will have one final checkup prior to adoption for health check and microchip.

Georgette’s owner loved her very much but due to moving far away from Montreal was unable to take her with him. She is a lovely 3 year old lab (maybe flat-coat retriever mixed with lab).

Georgette is smart, knows all her commands and is gentle and affectionate. At first meeting she is  a bit anxious and when walking outside seems to be looking for her person. Once relaxed she is quick to cuddle, give kisses and to show off her tricks for more patting or for another treat.

Georgette is tall and slender and weighs approximately 60 lbs. Her best match would be either an active family or single with a flexible schedule, and preferably with a fenced yard. Kids 12 plus. Cats ok. Although Georgette is used to being someone’s one and only, another compatible dog may work.

This very sweet, small Shih Tzu is affectionate, friendly and pretty easy to have around. Maggie was adopted by a young  couple who have a baby and with maternity leave over, have no time for the dog.

They adopted her only 7 months ago. She is good with the baby, good with easy dogs (as she can be timid around rowdy ones) and with independent cats that won’t bug her.

She likes her walks, loves all people and loves to cuddle. She is housetrained, even asks to go out and is quiet. She is vaccinated, sterilized and microchipped.

Maggie’s ideal home would be a family or person with a flexible schedule, who like to walk, have another quiet dog and calm kids 10+.

This great big 5 year old boy, weighing in at 120 lbs., was rescued from an abusive situation.

We believe that Buster is a Golden Retriever/Great Pyrenees mix. Beautiful, affectionate but weary of small children as he was taunted in the home he came from.

A patient, experienced adult home is required. He will definitely need a diet along with a family who likes to walk and a with fenced in yard where he can burn off some calories. Kids 16 plus.

This beautiful and friendly, chatty young female cat is looking for a home of her own.  She is a sweet girl who was found in a wood pile with her new kittens (now adopted), barely managing to survive.

They were taken in by a kind woman and surrendered to Gerdys. She is healthy, spayed and vaccinated.

Freddie is a 2 year old Rottie/Shep mix . He is neutered and up to date on his vaccinations. He loves people and can live with kids 12+. Freddie loves dogs and cats and loves to rough house with another big dog.

He is crate trained and has mastered walking very nicely with a Halti to avoid pulling.  He’s a strong boy weighing approx.70 lbs. Freddie knows most of his basic commands and enjoys working for his food and rewards.

He can be somewhat protective if in his enclosed space, in the presence of other dogs. Freddie would make a great addition to a family with another dog, looking for some companionship.

The family must be experienced with owning a strong, large breed dog. A house with a securely fenced in yard is imperative.

TOKI the pocket panther

Toki was given up because her family's new baby is allergic to her. She is 7 years old, though she looks like an eight-month-old kitten and energetic. She is now spayed.

If Toki were a person, she would be The Honorable Miss Phryne Fisher*: diminutive, supremely confident, sleek, supple, sensuous and accustomed to bending people to her will. She has firm ideas about what she wants and does not want and that she would like to be just the only cat, and devote her attention to her human admirers.

On the positive side of the ledger is her Siamese-like craving for human company. When I, her foster mother, sit down, she leaps into my lap. When I lie down, she stretches out on my chest, gazing worshipfully at me while gently kneading my arm. She follows me around the house, purring and chatting. She is an enthusiastic eater and uses her litter box neatly.

In view of her love of people, she needs a person - or a family - who enjoys interacting with a gregarious cat. As her previous family included a four-year-old girl, gentle children would be a plus. She has never gone outside and is used to apartment dwelling. She was also accustomed to having Soft Paw claw caps applied; I have not bothered with them, and she lets me trim her claws.

Should Toki turn out to be less delightful in your home than she is here, I will of course gladly take her back.

Babette is a 2 year old Pomeranian X, tiny, at approx. 4 lbs. Surrendered to the pound as her owner was moving, Babette was a bit stunned when left behind.

So, when we first took her in she was timid, but it didn’t take long for her to get comfy in our arms. Babette likes to play and can live with another small dog.

Outings in the car are a big hit for her. She would make an ideal companion for a single person, or a couple. Families should have kids 16+.

She can stay alone for several hours, but not too long as she gets lonely and sad. She would love you to take her everywhere! No apartments or condos as she can be vocal.

  Rosie, Ruby & Ramses

These 3 senior Yorkies were recently surrendered to Gerdys as their owner died of cancer. Spoiled and well taken care of, these 3 siblings were easy to love and to include in the Gerdys family.

The time has come to let them go. It will be near impossible to find a home for all 3, 11+ year olds. With time we have seen that Rosie (female on the right) and Ruby (male in the centre), tiny at 4-5 lbs., are glued to each other.

Ramses (a male, on the left in the photo),  is bigger at 10 lbs., is quite independent, equally happy with humans and can be adopted separately. All three are friendly, affectionate and well-mannered–––three little jewels.

So we are looking for two amazing families, Yorkie lovers–Ramses for one family and Ruby and Rosie together.  No young children please. Someone home a lot. Good with cats and other dogs. House and pipi pad trained.

  Adopted Together!

Squirrel had the good sense to knock on the door of a warm-hearted Animal Health Technician, who scooped up his poor ragged form and took him with her to work at the Montreal Veterinary Hospital.

There he underwent the usual tests (he is FIV and FeLV negative), vaccinations, parasite treatments and, a final but necessary indignity, castration. He then moved back into his rescuer's home, where he has become BFF with a young female cat.

His rescuer would like nothing better than to keep him, but as she lives in a neighbourhood plentifully supplied with strays (in fact, she has recently taken a new and even more wretched cat under her wing), she has no choice but to offer this delectable young boy up for adoption.

He is more than just a pretty (very pretty!) face: he is wonderfully friendly, gets along with everyone except the resident dominant male, who is campaigning vigorously to get him OUT, and does not scratch the furniture.

His date of birth is estimated at January 2016, so he has many years of wonderful companionship to give to some lucky person or family.

  Mint & Goma

COURTESY LISTING - Compassionate Placement

We are rehoming our two Tabbies (neutered males) Mint (5) and Goma (4). These two are a bonded pair and would do best in a home without young children or other pets.

Mint is a passionate cat; once you capture his heart he is yours. He has a mild case of asthma. He understands the human world and listens to instructions.

Goma is all about playing and having fun; he will make friends with you and jump off and bounce back into your lap for some snuggle time!

This stunning 2 year old diminutive husky was saved, in terrible condition, from the streets of Kosovo. She was found injured and protecting her newborn pup. She was rescued by a volunteer group overseas and Gerdys agreed to help her out.

Now fully recovered and vetted, she is super ready for some well deserved snuggling and a comfy bed. She never lost her faith in humans and remains friendly and chatty! Stella loves people, kids (best if 10+) and other dogs, and is so far untested with cats.

She will need a home with a fenced-in yard and people who love to be outdoors and already know huskies.

Will you be the one to complete Stella’s miraculous rescue story?

This Bichon Frisé is a special boy, who totally defies his age. He is an affectionate, sweet dog who loves to play fetch, to wrestle and horse around with both other dogs and people.

He is an all around pleasure to be with, doesn't love to be left alone too much, loves the car and doesn't mind being groomed.

Pumpkin's ideal home would be with another older but playful dog, with someone home a lot and a house with a backyard where he can get out fast, several times a day for quick pees.

He weighs 12.5 lbs., is neutered, and up to date on all of his vaccines. Kids 10+.

Chester is a 7 year old, 22 lb. Boston Terrier. Adopted 3 years ago, Chester is a very friendly guy and loves humans. He is fearful of dogs that he doesn’t know and has most of his exercise and play time with his human friends.

He is good on a leash but prefers not to get too close to other dogs when walking. Since he doesn’t love being left alone, he will need a house vs. an apartment or duplex and a securely fenced yard where he can play and not worry about other dogs.

Chester needs a caring, loving family who will see him through the rest of his life as he has been bounced around a few times. He is ok with cats. Chester is neutered, up to date on his vaccines. Kids 16+ as we don’t know if he has ever lived with kids, but seems friendly enough towards them on the street.

Chuggzy is a 6 year old Pug. He is affection, obedient and docile. He is a true lap dog, who prefers to cuddle up on the sofa and watch tv rather than exercise.

In fact, when he is watching television he gets very animated, especially when he sees other animals on the screen: he will bark at them, whine and moan.

Once he leaves the house though, he remembers that he doesn’t mind walking and playing outside. With new people he is a bit mistrustful but with time and patience comes around.

Chuggs is housetrained and asks for the door. He loves his crate—it’s his safe place––he even sleeps there. He would be best as an only pet, even though he gets along with other animals.

Someone with dog experience particularly with timid and mistrustful dogs is required. He is neutered, up-to-date on his shots. Children 16 plus.

SNIFF, SNIFF (you may need a handkerchief for this one)

Sniff’s human constant companion, best friend and soulmate was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer a month ago and just died, leaving Sniff homeless at 9 plus years old.

She is a friendly, affectionate, calm, yet playful for her age, giant German Shepherd, weighing about 99 lbs. She is used to living a country life and has even been a working girl, helping her owner sniff out narcotics for the police.

Sniff likes people, cats and other dogs but would do best as the only dog. If you love giant breeds, have a fenced-in property for her to hang out in, none to minimal stairs and lots of time to be with her, Sniff is desperate for a retirement home. She is vaccinated and sterilized.

It is the classic story of a man and his faithful dog. Bisou and her owner were best pals and she kept him company during his final stages of life, either by his side or waiting patiently at the door for him to return from treatments at the hospital. Now she waits patiently for a new constant companion and a new purpose.

This beautiful brindle Shepherd/Cattle dog mix is 6 years old and weighs 72 lbs. She is very friendly, smart and affectionate but can use some basic obedience, as her owner spoiled her. A home with a fenced-in yard, an active family, kids 10 plus and even another dog would suit her well.

Bisou is up-to-date on vaccines and will be spayed shortly.

This 8 month old beautiful boy was bought off the internet at 7 weeks old by someone who wasn’t able to manage him. He became extremely stressed over time and she could no longer handle him.

He is an insecure dog having had no stability to date, but is very affectionate and cuddly and loves women but is afraid of most men. Until a few months ago he was great with other dogs, went to the dog park regularly but most recently he gets stressed around some dogs.

He has been around cats, and is fine but mostly ignores them. He is very active, playful, walks nicely on a leash and loves being outdoors. Sirius loves to play fetch and can get a great workout retrieving the ball. He is housetrained, vaccinated and neutered.

His best home would be a single person or family with someone who works from home, older kids 14+, and preferably with females although it is adult men that seem to cause him stress. An all around great pup!

My name is Meow, I am a 3 year old male, neutered, vaccinated, and up to date on my flea treatment. I am looking for a new home as I am no longer able to stay in my current situation. I have lived children, dogs and other cats, with no issues.

I am sweet, very cuddly and affectionate. Could it be you who opens your heart to give me a home I deserve? There is no adoption fee, just looking for a good home.

Yuka, a 13 year old Bichon Maltais is being given up because her owner has to be travelling regularly and does not want to board her for long periods of time.

She's a timid girl who prefers to be in familiar surroundings with people she knows and loves them to hang out with her in parks or to walk and explore.

Yuka doesn’t do well with change so the transition to a new family will require a lot of love and patience from her new humans. She has always lived with cats and is neutral with dogs as long as they aren’t taking away from her human cuddling time.

She doesn’t require a lot of exercise but would love to wander in her own backyard away from traffic and steet noise. This 18 lb senior darling still looks like a pup.

Do you have room for one more? Kids 14 plus.

Cleo was dumped by her owner at the front door of the of a city shelter. She had recently had a litter of pups and for sure had many other litters in the past.

Cleo is a 6 year old American Cocker Spaniel who needs an experienced home, especially with Cockers. She has all of the wonderful qualities of a Cocker, but some others that need to be worked on as well.

She is an affectionate girl who craves cuddling, tummy rubs and loves to be brushed. She is also very playful and insists on having lots of toys to hoard and chew on. She loves outings in the car, walks well on a leash in quiet areas where there is not too much distraction from cars, bikes, buses and trucks.

Cleo’s foster mom has worked with her and loves her very much. She says that she still needs work, as Cleo is insecure and fearful at times, reactive to dogs at first meeting—but then becomes best friends with them! She is not so happy to be left alone too long and can still chew on things and be vocal.

We are looking for an experienced family (adult children only), or a single, or a couple, who live in a house (vs. a condo or apartment) with a fenced-in yard, in a suburban setting and with someone working from home or retired.  A tall order indeed, but there must be an angel for Cleo out there.

This 3 year old German Shepherd was recently surrendered to Gerdy’s Rescue because of a family issue. She is very affectionate, playful and obedient.
She gets along well with other dogs and cats.

Olivia needs a family with someone home a lot of the time---a family with a flexible schedule. She whines and is unhappy when on her own too long.

She is not destructive in any way when left in the house, just sad. She requires a house vs an apartment, and a large, securely fenced backyard. She loves the outdoors—walking, hiking and horsing  around but does not love being left alone outside.

Olivia is on very inexpensive daily medication that is under control. Kids 14 plus. Up-to-date on vaccines and spayed.

  Simon and Antar

Simon (long hair orange) and Antar (short hair white) are two male brothers (same litter), 3 years old, healthy, fixed and up-to-date with every vaccine recommended by the vet. They are indoor cats with identification chips, amazing and social.

It would be preferable not to separate them but can place them individually if that isn't possible.

An adorable 8 year old female brindle French Bulldog., Bonnie was with only one family since she was a puppy. Originally from France, she is an owner surrender due to a family divorce.

Bonnie is sweet, gentle and extremely affectionate. As all Frenchies, she is a hoot, comical and fun to be around. She is easy care, and doesn’t need a ton of exercise but she does love her walks. She is happy on car rides and is used to going to work everyday in an office environment.

She is a social butterfly with humans and a great companion but not so wonderful with dogs she doesn’t know. Bonnie should be your one and only. She gets very attached to her human and can be protective. She will bark at the door and at activity on the street so a house would be best for her. If you are familiar with the breed, Bonnie is a great ambassador.

Bonnie is housetrained, vaccinated, sterilized and ready for her new life. Kids 16+.

Stella is a sweet 2 1/2 year old German Shepard husky mix looking for a forever home. She is a funny, submissive dog who loves to cuddle she just needs time to trust you. She is sterilized, vaccinated and housetrained, she will bark at the door to let you know she needs to go out.

She had a bit of a rough start in her life with the owner she had previous to her current one so she deserves a home that will love her unconditionally and for the rest of her life. She loves to play fetch and walks well on a leash. She has lived with dogs and is very social with them, just a little toy and food possessive. She is also crate trained and does well when left alone as long as she's burnt some energy.

Stella would be best suited with a family or person with no young children , she is scared of them and gets very uncomfortable, that's the only reason why we have to find her a new home as her family has a 13 month old and baby number 2 due in the summer.

Stella is not a dog that can be left off leash, and will need a fenced yard. Her bad habits: she loves to collect socks and walk around with them in the house, she sometimes jumps on the kitchen counter if she smells food up there, and she she loves to chase squirrels!

Her ideal home would be with adult children, a house with a fenced-in yard and people who can exercise her, and give her the opportunity to be the best companion ever.

Beethoven is a gorgeous 4 yr old Flat Coated Retriever x. He is smart quick learner, loyal, affectionate and loves to cuddle. He is not high energy but especially enjoys a good run when he gets the chance.

He would be great in a home with a fenced-in property where he could frolic. He also loves to swim and hike. A bit of a barker, but stops when told to. Better with small dogs and cats but ok with larger dogs, once he gets to  know them.

Beethoven likes the car, especially long rides. He doesn’t mind being groomed or having his nails trimmed. He is ok to stay alone and at night likes to sleep on his own bed.

He is neutered and vaccinated and in good health. Beethoven should not live in a home with young children, he is fearful of them. Kids 16 plus only.

Because of a severe allergy of their small infant this beautiful cat has to be rehomed as soon as possible. She is 6 years old, highly affectionate and will approach anyone, stranger or not for love and petting.

Does not like to be held or picked up, but WILL on her own accord, jump up on your lap or slink up next to you and ask for love.  If you don’t pet her, she will pet you!

Very social and gets along with small children, small and large dogs.  A gem of a cat!  LOVES TO POSE FOR PICTURES!  An Oriental shorthair mix, she has all the delightful quirks of the breed with the fun and vigor of a domestic.

STERILIZED, no health problems, no deafness, and used to getting claw caps applied!  INDOOR ONLY!  A cat in a million!

Luna is a beautiful Golden (and we think Collie) mix, saved by Gerdys from a shelter in Kosovo.

She is just one year old and a bit shy at first meeting and then quickly warms up with a cookie or two.

She is young, active and a lot of fun. We don’t have much history on her but as we get to know her we would recommend a family with previous dog experience. Patience, love, exercise, structure and routine is all it will take to have a wonderful companion in Luna.

Luna would do best in an adult home (kids 16+), with a fenced-in yard, perhaps another confident, well-trained dog to show her the ropes or ok as an only dog.

A family or someone with a flexible schedule would be ideal for her as she will benefit from socialization and attention. Luna is spayed, vaccinated.

This 10 1/2 year old Corgi mix was abandoned by his family who he spent over 10 years with. The shock of losing his home and family and ending up in a pound, was all too much for him. He spent the first few days sniffing every parked car and looking for them on his walks.

Rico is mistrustful at first with strangers but slowly warms up with a little patience and yummy treats.Given his age and his stress in new situations Rico needs an experienced adult home, with another dog who is confident or as an only dog child.

Rico knows several commands, even roll over, and is happy to perform them for a cookie. He so loves his walks and is still full of energy. He also loves car rides and is still eager for new adventures. No kids. No apartments or condos. A fenced in yard would be wonderful.

This sweet one year old girl LAB MIX was abandoned by her owner on the internet and found her way into Gerdy's Rescues.

She was sterilized and vaccinated by Gerdy's and is ready for adoption.  She has had a tough time in her short life but she is smart, a quick learner and very eager to please.

She has love to give, and to receive love and attention would be the greatest gift she could have from someone, could that someone be YOU?

  Thelma & Louise

Saved from euthanasia at a Quebec pound by 2 very amazing volunteers, Thelma and Louise are attached at the hip and the heart and must be adopted together.

They are Shih Tzus, approximately 8 years old and they each weigh 13 lbs. They are pretty easy girls who like to go for strolls on the leash but like equally to hang out on the sofa. They are warm, affectionate and a pleasure to be around.

They are not barkers, can live in an apartment and are used to being alone during the work day. They are just fine with cats and dogs and like kids who treat them well. They are vaccinated and sterilized and ready for love!

  Adopted Together

Cannelle (Cinnamon in English) is an adorable, unique looking 7 year old, approx. 36 lb., Bassett mix (and perhaps American Eskimo). She is smart, affectionate and knows lots of commands.

She can live in an apartment but would really benefit from a house with a backyard. Cannelle is neither vocal nor destructive when left alone but will sometimes bark at strangers when she first meets them, especially men, but warms up immediately.

Cannelle is playful, housetrained and friendly with dogs.

This 3 year old boy prefers to pick and choose his own dog friends but loves people! Kids 12+. Needs a fenced-in yard and house. Kiko is a mix of Golden Retriever and Flat Coat Retriever.

He was abandoned by his owner in Ontario and made his way to Gerdy's Rescues. Kiko is sterilized and vaccinated and hoping for a loving home soon.

PIGE desperately needs a new home!  She is a sweet and affectionate INDOOR cat, 11 years old and SPAYED.  Her owners are moving & can’t take her with them.

Can YOU help this senior girl and save her life?

When Mowgli was 3 months old, for his safety, I caught him  in a garage with a trap cage. I tried to socialize him as best as I could, but at 3 months old it was a challenge. So, I resolved to neuter, vaccinate and deworm him to return him to nature with a TNR program seeing, that he was still semi-feral.

After he was neutered, Mowgli became more social and began to hide less and less. So I decided to give him some time. Now 4 months later Mowgli is still timid towards humans, but ADORES other cats. He now follows me everywhere and comes to me for treats ---the only time I can actually touch him. The good news is that he no longer hides and seems perfectly comfortable in his environment.

After all this time spent indoors, going back outdoors is no longer an option. I am looking for a family who have other cats and are comfortable to live with a cat they may never be able to caress, but will be doing an amazing deed by giving him a home and the opportunity to have a beautiful life.

Please open your heart to this beautiful boy.

Pouf is a beautiful 12 yr old DECLAWED and spayed cat who must stay indoors only. She is in good health, doesn't go outside, never had any health issues. She is very social, like a little dog! We shave her during summer and winter we keep her hair long.

She grew up around other cats, so after a little adaptation period she is usually very friendly to them. However, she has been the only cat in our house for the past 2 years.

She eats a senior cat food. We want to make sure she is in a loving family and she gets lots of cuddles!!

Thank you.

  Oscar & Myer

Oscar and Myer are 7 yrs old and their mom who rescued them off the street as babies has to go to an old peoples home at the end of November.

Are you able to help or know someone who can?? I really want to try and keep them together.

  Adopted Together

Hello!  My name is Gigi!  My master is highly allergic to me and must quickly find a home for me.  I am very submissive and loving.

I am good with all humans but not with other animals.  My favourite games are angry birds, baseball, (yes, I am a good batter!) and I love hide and seek.  I will make you very happy if you would adopt me!

Thank You!

3 White and 1 Black Kittens

3 all White, IDENTICAL and one all Black and ALL girls!  Eyes are slowly changing color so they will likely be yellow-green like their mother.

Very friendly & playful and love attention, born Sept 9, 2016.  None deaf or blind.

Theo is a handsome black male Domestic Longhair cat. He was born July 11. 2013, 3 years old. Theo weighs 10 pounds, and is a nice boy who is looking for a forever home of his own. Declawed on all four paws.

Meet Chico!

He's a 3 year old male chihuahua, neutered, up to date on his shots, heartworm negative and ready to go!

Chico's owner passed away and since then he has been bounced around from home to home while hoping to find permanent placement.

Let's make this his last pit stop and give him a FOREVER HOME that he can relax in!

Very good and respectful with cats and bit afraid of other dogs and small children, Chico needs a home with kids 12 and up.

He'll make someone a very sweet and affectionate companion!

Even at 11 years old, abandoned by the family he had since he was a pup, this sweet natured Corgi mix boy is ready for a new life. A life filled with love, a good healthy diet, lots of exercise and the opportunity to show off the beautiful body hiding under his sausage shape. Trooper loves all people and is very social. He loves his walks, cuddling on the sofa and of course sleeping on a human bed.

He deserves a new person or family ready to give him a retirement home. He is perfectly housetrained, likes cats and is selective with dogs. He has lived with a dog both in his original home and in his foster home but prefers to be the one and only. Kids 14 plus. Someone with a flexible schedule and a home with not too many stairs.

Ozzy's world is full of energy, kisses and cuteness. He is a medium to big boy, about 55 lbs. who needs to run off his energy in a yard, jogging or in a dog park.

He has lived with children but is strong and would be best with adult children 15 plus who can handle him. He is young, just over one year old, and will need experienced people who will work with him to live up to his great potential!

Ozzy looks like a mix of Setter and Wire-Haired Pointer.

Foxy and Scotty are siblings so we would LOVE to see them adopted together, if possible, but it is not necessary.

The kittens are about 10 weeks old, both MALE, they were abandoned by their mother in a barn at 2 weeks old and they have been bottle fed in foster care.

They are being vaccinated and will be neutered under Gerdy's Rescues when they are old enough.  These adorable loving brothers are healthy, playful, affectionate--AND--litter trained!

Meet 3 year old Benjamin, a 55+ lb boxer.  He is loving and gentle, obedient, smart and attentive.  He walks nicely on the leash, is not a barker and an overall wonderful companion.  Benjamin is used to dogs and plays with them and he currently lives with a toddler and does well.

For personal reasons his owners can’t keep him, but are heartbroken to have to give him up.  Benjamin would well in a home with a family with kids 10+ or without. Up to date on shots and neutered.

Everyone loves her!

Abandoned to a local shelter at 10 1/2 years old, Chippie was a little scared at first not knowing what she had done wrong. Once in a foster home she showed her real, true sweet self.

She's pretty adorable and smart as a whip and loves to be made a fuss of. She enjoys other dogs, but not cats and her perfect match would be a family with a flexible schedule and another dog.

Little Chi Needs A Home

Due to a recent divorce, Cheeky as been caught in between and has found himself homeless. He is a small almost 6 year old, 6-7 lbs, loving, affectionate Chihuahua who is a champion cuddler.

He requires minimal maintenance and exercise, is comfortable with adults (or adult children), afraid of young children and gets along with cats and some dogs.

Cheeky does bark at the doorbell and at outside movement and therefore it would be best to place him in a house vs. an apartment.

He is sterilized, vaccinated and completely housetrained.

Meet Gaston, a 3 year old Bichon Frisé. Cute as a button, and a bit bratty in a charming way, Gaston loves to play with other dogs, go for walks and hang out in the yard chasing leaves. He is quite sporty and would do well in agility classes.

He was found as a stray and ended up in a home a year ago, with an elderly lady who is now moving into a senior’s residence. So, in his new home he will need some structure, routine and the security that he won’t be abandoned again.

We prefer a house (vs. an apt.) with a fenced yard for him, with or without another dog and/or cat. The bratty side of him barks at the door, and sometimes at nothing at all and he likes to play “catch me if you can” especially when it’s time to put on his leash.

An experienced family having had dogs before, kids 13+.

Talkative, stunning looks and amazing character is INDRA. He turned 3 years old on October 7/16 and is a male Black Bengal/Siamese; jet black with the physique of a small panther!

Not declawed, he is talkative like a Siamese and is long and very sleek. Neutered and up to date on all his vaccines, Indra weighs just over 5 kgs.  INDOOR CAT ONLY!

Indra is a FANTASTIC boy and is in every way very appealing.

Scotty and Foxy are siblings so we would LOVE to see them adopted together, if possible, but it is not necessary.

Gustave is an easy going boy, healthy, neutered, dewormed, and will be vaccinated soon.  GREAT temperament with easy-going personality and would be ideal as a first cat!

This poor stray showed up at her cottage, and she is trying to find him a good loving home as an INDOOR cat only!  She cannot keep him as she has already found homes for more than 20 stray cats in that area.

Gustave is EXCEPTIONAL!  He will let you pick him up he is so trusting.  All he asks for is LOVE, security, and a forever home of his own.

George is a 7 1/2 year old Springer Spaniel whose owner, sadly, can no longer keep him. She has said, "everything about him is great and maybe one of his only shortcomings is that he barks when he sees dogs on t.v. :)".

George is friendly, alert, smart, affectionate, a great traveller, well socialized and good with kids (but has not lived with them). He has lived with another big dog and loved it—wrestling, running etc. He has never met cats but given that he is a hunting breed and loves to chase squirrels, we will say no cats.

He has been socialized at dog parks and even at doggie beaches and does well. He weighs approx. 55 lbs. and is in great health, neutered, and up to date on all his shots. He is a medium energy pooch, who would prefer to have a fenced-in yard to romp in, but he also loves his walks.

If you know and love the breed or have experience with Springers or any hunting breed, please inquire.

Corky is a 5 year old, 14 lb, Jack Russell mix---but other than being super smart, he doesn’t have many other Jack Russell traits.

He’s a pretty chill guy in the house; he loves to hang out on the couch. Outdoors he loves to run around the garden, is an ace at retrieving a tennis ball and has a great nose for bugs and squirrels.

So far he gets along with the 3 dogs in the foster household but he is a leader and would do best alone or with a very easy dog. He has had no previous experience living with kids, so we are looking only for an adult home (or kids 12 plus). He is way too interested in cats and chases them, so NO CATS.

In his past life he was rarely left alone and although we haven’t seen any signs of separation anxiety or vocalization, his former owners said that he barked when left alone. So, we prefer a house vs. an apartment or condo. At the foster home he is pretty well housetrained.

Now for the best part of Corky. He is the sweetest, most affectionate, attentive lover-boy. He adores everyone, you can take him anywhere and he will be supremely loyal. He is a snuggle bunny, and his fave activity is falling asleep in your arms. He also loves to travel in the car. and will make a great walking and hiking buddy.

So, if you have previous dog experience are an active single or family looking for a BFF, Corky is your man.

Bonita's owner was leaving the country and left her with a friend. The same morning she ran out of the garage and was hit by a car and when her owner was contacted she told her friend to bring Bonita to a local shelter for euthanasia.

Gerdy received the emergency call to get her medical help asap. We rushed her to one of our vets and luckily she had no serious injuries, other than a broken tail.

She is sweetness personified and needs a foster home to recover in for a few weeks. Her tail had to be amputated, she was spayed and will soon be on her way to her new life with someone who will care about her forever.

She is soft, quiet and a pleasure to be around. We will get to know her more in the next weeks.
Anyone out there who wants to give Bonita a temporary recovery home (you may just fall in love and keep her)?

She is 3 years old, fully vaccinated and weighs 12 lbs.

I am a handsome 9 year old Golden Retriever, neutered and up to date with my vaccines. I have always lived outside because my owner's husband and child are allergic to me.

I have never been aggressive or shown malice in my behaviour, I have the typical wonderful nature of my breed. I love to bark a welcome when I see a person or animal passing by.

Hi, my name is Sharkie and I am quite the handsome boy, don’t you think!? I was taken into foster by my foster mom some time ago. She took me in from the SPCA who didn’t know much about my past except that I was probably victim to some scary stuff because I was feral and people really, really scared me. I would basically stay in the corner of my cage and hiss at anyone who came near me or tried to touch me.

Foster mom was scared that no one would want me because of that and brought me home.
I should tell you that though my foster mom would agree that I have made HUGE progress, I am still a very shy guy. See me as the strong, silent type. It’s cool though because foster mom doesn’t push me or try to make me do any of the other clingy cat things that my fur siblings do.

They are constantly all over her, begging for food and snuggles and one of them has even started to do his business outside of the litter box. Foster mom is quite overwhelmed by that these days which is why she is hoping that someone else can take me in. It’s too bad though, I will miss my 3 cat siblings. You see, I share my space with one feline sister and 2 feline brothers. We all get along really well and I am hoping that I can find a home with a feline sibling or two since they help calm me down. I also have a human brother.

He is 9 and we kind of just let each other do our things. I leave him alone and he leaves me alone. Sometimes if he gets too close, I may hiss a little bit cause it makes me nervous but i have never ever bitten or hurt someone for trying to love me. I really love when foster mom gives me treats.

I take them from her hands because I trust her, but that is as close as I will get. Sometimes when I am really feeling brave, I will curl up next to her on the couch or sleep at the foot of her bed with the other fur balls. If she moves too much though, I find somewhere else nice and comfy to sleep.

Really, all I need is a comfy bed, toys and somewhere i can do my claws, good food and some treats. I am usually a quiet guy and although my feline siblings try and convince me otherwise, I stay off the counter and out of trouble. If you give me a chance, I’ll keep you company, always lounging around close by and did I mention that I always keep foster mom company while she watches the The Bachelor?! Will you give me your final rose?

Coucou !

Ils m’aident à me calmer.

Me donneriez-vous votre rose finale?

It was lucky that a neighbour of Mark’s owner realized that he wasn’t being properly cared for and finally convinced his owner to surrender him to us.

Despite extreme neglect, Mark came to us as the happiest sweetest dog. A mini poodle, approximate 6 years old Mark is a happy-go-lucky joy to be around. He gets along well with other dogs, is friendly, smart and affectionate.

Loves his walks. Recently neutered, up to date on vaccines. Kids 10 plus.

  Callum & Tia

Calum and Tia are two stunningly beautiful Birman cats who are nine years old and looking for a home together for the rest of their lives. Ideally, they will be the only pets in the house and must continue to be indoor cats only!

They are in excellent health, spayed and neutered and DECLAWED in the front.  They love to be petted and brushed and will bring great joy to their new family.

No children please as they are too delicate for child's play.

This sweet male American Foxhound is good with kids. Abandoned by owner, Lenny is a treasure, very loving with everybody! He weighs 59 pounds.

Sterilized and vaccinated. Lenny looks forward to a forever home!

This 1 1/2 year old Jack Russell is a super smart, energetic girl who would be great for someone interested in bonding through further obedience training, agility, etc.

As expected, she is very energetic, loves to play fetch and is excellent on her long leash walks. Zoe would do best in a home with a fenced-in area to run around in or catch a frisbee, etc.

Zoe loves people, is affectionate and will come for cuddles. Zoe is used to being THE center of attention in her former home so she is selective as to which type of dog she can co-habitate with.

She is housetrained, sterilized and up to date on vaccines. Zoe would be great for kids 10 plus. Not cat tested.

They call me a gentle giant, because of my size and my truly loving nature. My siblings and I were rescued from a situation that did not allow us any contact with the outside world.

So when we came to the shelter (almost three years ago!) we were so scared of everyone we met. Because I am such a big fellow, and I have a very loud bark, people tend to be scared of me. I am sad about this – cause I am so loving when I get to know you!

My caregivers and the volunteers who visit me think I am wonderful. That makes me very happy and I usually give them a big, fat kiss for that. I am about seven years old, and a mix of shepherd and husky.

The family I need will have to be very calm and live in a peaceful environment. Loud noise  scares me a lot and I am not used to cars or the noise of city streets. I cannot live in a home with cats or small dogs, and because of my size and timid nature,

I should not live with children under twelve years old. I know that I’m asking a lot, but surely there is someone out there for me to spend quiet days with.

Checkers, now about 3 years old, was fed as a stray kitten outside by Gerdy’s Aunt. Eventually, he was caught, neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and defleaed, so he could have a chance at life as an indoor cat.

Checkers would do really well in an adult home where he could just be allowed to be himself, study his situation, and build trust—each has great potential, and just needs a chance!

It would help if he was the only pet in the house, but Checkers does get along with other cats.  In his foster home, Checkers is learning that life inside is much better than in the streets!

Checkers is just glad to be taken indoors out of the cold so just a bit of PATIENCE on your part will make all the difference!

  Maki (AKA Happy)

Living up to his name, Happy is full of love and joy of life. A Doberman mixed with Lab, Happy is about a year old male and he is eager to find a new family.

His owner loved him but he had to move at short notice to another apartment, so had no choice but to give Happy up.

Happy will be getting neutered shortly under Gerdy’s Rescues before he can leave us and is vaccinated. Happy is all ears to hear from you! He is VERY smart and eager to please!

Sunny has fallen through the cracks and still has not found his forever home. Crazy, a gorgeous puppy like him.

Seeing Sunny puts a smile on your face! This purebred, 23 lb.male Lhasa Apso pup was tossed around to a few homes, finally surrendered to a local pound and Gerdy took him into our care.

Basically a nice-natured, sweet boy who fell into the wrong hands. He is currently living in one of our foster homes, with 3 other small dogs and has shown only to be a smart boy who is a fast learner.

He does well in a structured environment and requires a fairly experienced owner who is used to handling small breeds and who would be willing to attend puppy classes with him. Sunny adores playing with other dogs and would do best in a home with a canine friend.

He requires moderate levels of exercise, loves to run around a backyard, enjoys rides in the car. We groomed him and he tolerates it, but so far this has not been his fave activity. In the right home, with love and patience Sunny will become a bright star.

He is vaccinated, sterilized, heartworm tested and house trained. Kids 14 plus.

Meet Ola, the most handsome, affectionate, gentle and quiet Siamese Flame Pointthe world has ever seen. Due to absolutely no fault of his own (but rather, due to human health-related circumstances), his current owner needs to find a loving family that will welcome Ola into their home -forever!

Ola is about 6 years young, current on all vaccines, microchipped, sterilized and (unfortunately) fully declawed. He was adopted from the shelter, so not much is known about his previous life. Once adopted, his current owner made sure that he had the best care possible, as minor health problems were taken care of (dental cleaning, teeth removal, special diet to regain weight, blood & urine tests, etc).

Unfortunately it was then discovered that Ola suffers from early kidney failure (stage 1 or 2, at the most) - but it is entirely manageable through diet (aka canned food) and proper hydration, no medication required. According to his vet, with proper care, he has several quality years ahead of him; this cuddlebug still plays like a (slightly cautious) kitten!!

Ola has an amazing personality. He is a quiet, slightly shy cat (so he can get anxious in new situations), very sweet natured. Once he warms up to you, he will follow you around, jump on your lap and cuddle for hours on end - but on his terms. He loves to put his head in your neck and give you kisses. He will sleep on your bed, or in your arms if you will let him.

He has never shown any signs of aggressiveness and rarely meows (unless he wants to be fed when his bowl is empty). He has been trained not to jump on tables, counters, you name it, and has never broken anything in the house. He has zero litterbox issues. He is a fantastic cat and his owner (while completely heartbroken that she has to rehome him) hopes to find a kind and responsible family for this stunner.

In short, Ola is one heck of a special cat, and it would be better if he were adopted by someone who is home most of the time. He needs a human presence and is at his happiest sitting on your lap, purring life away. Perhaps someone who is retired, who works from home or who works regular 9-5 hours or a family with respectful children who will not play rough with the cat; he is after all quite gentle.

My name is Kira, I'm a Collie/Doberman mix, at least that what I think, but who knows if I have a sight hound in my family history. I'm a 5 month-old female who has a lot of energy and who likes to obey basic commands if you clearly state what you're expecting of me. I currently know the sit, lay down and come commands (in French).

I'm currently living in a foster home with an experienced person, a male adult Labrador who I love and a parrot who I am learning to respect. When my family is working during the day, I have a neighbor who comes to get me, and at the end of the day, her kids (12, 14 and 16) play with me in the yard. I can chase the hose for hours. However, I need a very experienced dog owner, because I don't do well in new situations. In these situations, I play-bite hard, jump on people or on every furniture and I become anxious.

My forever family will have to be available to work with me. I can walk for hours, do agility or any other sport you want to do with me. I need a family without kids under 12 years old. I cannot currently live with cats, as I am too intense not to chase them. If you want to be my future family, you must be ready to spend my overflowing energy, so about 4 hours of interaction with me, every day.

When you leave the house, I cannot be left loose as I'm probably going to damage your furniture but I am crate trained (it's my little house) if you give me stimulating toys. I can live with dogs! I am housetrained!

You will be selected and called back only if you are a good match, don't base your inquiry on my picture only. My foster family works that way:

1. First come first served IF ONLY you are a good match, you will received a call from my foster family (within 72 hours).

2. You will get to meet me and if you have a dog, we will introduce each other, because I am quite a handful and your dog must be happy about my arrival, and very patient.

Je suis presentement en famille d'accueil. Si vous voulez en savoir plus sur moi, s 'il-vous-plait contacter ma famille. I'm currently in foster care.

KAO IS YOUNG AND BEAUTIFUL. Sleek like a racehorse with a beautiful black coat this 1 year old lab was found running along the road in the country and was brought to a local pound. He is neutered, vaccinated and weighs 55 lbs.

Timid at first Kao warms up easily when a handful of treats is offered. Kao needs an active family experienced with large breed dogs. A fenced-in yard where he can romp is a must. Kao is elegant, graceful and in dire need of love.

In the right hands with structure and training this smart boy will become a wonderful companion. Kids 14 plus.

7 1/2 month old Mavie is close a mixture of a Pom and Papillon. This 16 lb. girl is not only beautiful but has the sweetest nature. She loves life and is easy to be around. She is curious, friendly, affectionate and gets along with cats and dogs.

This precious girl  was brought to an emergency clinic after she fell and broke her leg, her owners never came to pick her up. She has top notch care and has healed perfectly.

She is active and ready for her new life. A family with a house, a fenced in yard and a flexible schedule would be great. Kids 8-10 plus.

Dear Maggie was born May 15, 2009 and is 7 years old.  Maggie is a black Cocker Spaniel girl who was surrendered by her owner.

She is a happy girl, spayed, vaccinated, heartworm tested negative and vet examined good to go!

Meeting Maggie with her happy smile is a real treat!

Hello!  My name is Gigi!  I am 5 years old, have been vaccinated and spayed with claws but I don’t claw furniture. My owner has developed an allergy thus I am seeking a loving home. She is giving me along with all of my accessories.

I am friendly to all and  affectionate.  I am calm, submissive and trusting.  I love my scratching post and angry bird and, my favourite game is hide and seek.  Pleeeze consider taking me as part of your family.  I need to find a home before October!  My owner will deliver everything to you!

I look forward to meeting my new family.

Mandy is an adorable mix of miniature Schnauzer and Yorkie. She is 7+ years old, sweet and affectionate. Weighing in at only 10 lbs, Mandy is no pushover. She loves to hang out with other dogs but can be a bit bossy if things don’t go her way.

She loves her walks, roaming in a fenced-in garden, fetching her toys. She loves the one she's with and will follow you everywhere.

Mandy is not a fan of being confined or left alone for too many hours, so a dog experienced family with flexible hours, and another small dog would be ideal. No apartments or condos and kids 10 plus.

This 6 year old, 13 lb. Bichon mix will win your heart not only with her adorable looks, but with her magnetic personality.

She was found running loose and never claimed.
Happy, sweet, affectionate Candy will make a great pet for a family with children (8 plus). Candy loves to play and horse around so a space to run around, even a fenced yard, would be an asset.

She loves other dogs so a canine companion would also be great for her.

This beautiful 12 lb., Bichon/Lhasa mix has been tossed around a bit in her short 1 1/2 years and suffers from abandonment issues.

She is lovely, easy, friendly, affectionate, great with kids (8 plus) but needs a presence in the home, definitely with another dog.

So if you are a family with flexible schedules, work from home and have another dog, and are ready for a long-term commitment, you will be blessed with the best companion ever!

No condos or apartments.

A PERFECT POM!!!  Miko is an adorable, loveable 6 year old, 6 lb Pomeranian. He is smart, curious, active, social and ready for his new family.

He can live with dogs and cats and kids (10 plus). Love Poms? Then this is your guy.

This sweet natured, a bit shy at first, and adorable girl is a 5 year old Doberman who was abandoned by her owner.

She is a lovely girl with a lovely heart as well. She is spayed and vaccinated and weighs 47 pounds of charm. She’d LOVE to meet YOU!

Easy Peasy!

Daisy’s owners decided to rent an apartment that doesn’t allow dogs and just surrendered her to us. She has only known one owner all her life and is kind of wondering what happened.

A stunning flat-coated retriever mix, Daisy is quiet, affectionate, and an all around great girl. She is 8+ years old and weighs 62 lbs. She is in good shape and
would love a family with a house and a fenced-in yard, but could mange very well in an apartment with someone who loves to go for walks.

Don’t overlook this older girl, she is a gem! Kids 12 plus.

This 7 year old Bichon/ShihTzu mix is approx. 16 lbs of total cuteness. She is friendly, affectionate, easy to have around and gets along great with other dogs.

Her family could no longer keep her because of busy schedules and an hour after she was surrendered, she was comfortable in her new foster home.

She is active, curious, walks nicely on a leash and is housetrained. Kids 8 plus.

Mother of Roly (adopted) who probably was her only surviving kitten. They were outside together, abandoned, in the cold. Roly was about 3 weeks old at the time, when taken in by a kind woman who called Gerdy.

Minnie was vaccinated and sterilized by Gerdy’s. But Minnie is tired of the stress of keeping a kitten alive in the cold so has sworn off even being around other cats! Minnie is a Domestic Shorthair, and is looking for a quiet home where she can just relax for a change!

She is an affectionate cat!

Hi, I am a 6 year old male Family Dog, Lab/Huskey cross breed, sterilized, and vaccinated and I LOVE being petted and I give kisses!

I am curious, energetic, affectionate and welcoming when people visit. I eat hypoallergenic food and LOVE Brocolli, apples, and salad! I take a Thyroid pill once a day that I need the rest of my life, but it is inexpensive and no problem to give me.

I do not like to be crated but I do well in the house loose. My days are like nights—I eat, sleep, walk about the house without problems, I am well adjusted. But if you leave me TOO long in the house I might peepee but I am housetrained for a reasonable time of absence. I am not in regular contact with other dogs but with grooming during the year I am around other dogs and I am fine.

I am good with children, I like to lick their faces, not a mean bone in me! I have a lot to give a family who will cherish my qualities, my owner can no longer keep me, and she told me Gerdy will find me a GREAT new home. I am just the RIGHT age—and what you see is what you get! A loving boy offering you my heart for the rest of my days!

Jack has recovered from amputation surgery on his hind leg and is all set to go to a new home! His foster family finds him an AMAZING cat in every way. SUPER affectionate, he loves to lay on your chest when you are laying down, holding your face between his 2 front paws, so gently, one on either side, while purring you to sleep!

He gets around totally unaware he has only 3 legs, what he is missing in a leg he makes up for with his big heart—he utterly LOVES dogs, other cats, and people!

Social Jack is neutered and vaccinated and all set to go to a new and loving home where his fine attributes will be appreciated. Jack has a rather small build but a long body, he is graceful and a delight to watch, a gymnast personified. AND he LOVES to be cuddled and fussed over!

At 68 pounds, our Reign is calm and sweet. She is spayed and vaccinated, all set to go to her new home!

She had been found running loose and ended up at Gerdy’s. She is a pretty mixed breed who deserves a loving home to call her own.

I am a sweet natured female Dutch Rabbit about 1 1/2 years old. Gerdy has had me spayed. I weigh 1.09 kilos or just over 2 pounds. I was found after my previous owners released me into the wild, where I would not have survived, I was one lucky bunny!

My finders could not keep me so I am here keeping my toes crossed that a true bunny lover will take me on as a pet again. Not only am I adorably super cute, I am very inquisitive. I would like to go to a home that knows how to care for us Dutch (Netherland) Rabbits and will give me a good, and loving life.

I am not for a home with children or other pets. I never want to be put outside again to try to survive on my own. Please, if you can responsibly care for me indoors.

This little sweetheart is 14 years old! She needs a new and secure home DESPERATELY where she will be loved in her senior retirement years. Her owner is moving to a new job and cannot take Cookie with her.

Cookie is a SMALL girl and is a mixed breed, absolutely adorable! She looks like a little fox due to her blue eyes and beige fur. She has a very calm disposition and LOVES walks!

  Monsieur Leo

Monsieur Leo is a relaxed, dignified 14-year-old sealpoint Siamese who is in need of a new home only because several new members of his human family are allergic to him. He has been a much-loved pet all his life and wishes to continue this career. He has his claws but sharpens them on a scratching pad. He was recently seen by his vet and is deemed in good shape.

He is slightly chubbier than he used to be, but this is due to his current living arrangements and should sort itself out once he has a new family to keep him busy. He does not have the loud Siamese yowl that his breed is known for, nor is he cross-eyed (another common feature), but like a true Siamese he enjoys human company, cuddles and attention.

  Alfie & Mango (Bonded Pair)

Alfie’s character is just like most male Bengals….inquisitive, active and yet as my son says a “scardy cat”, loving to be in his familiar surroundings where he feels most comfortable and safe.

Mango is super affectionate, loves to be held a patted and purrs to show his appreciation. They are best buds and love each other. Alfie & Mango will both be turning 5 years old in September….they were born in 2011.

They have their shots, are both neutered, not declawed but are house cats. They are not allowed out to roam the streets.

  Adopted Together

Psst. Hey you. Yeah, you. I really like you. My name is HAVANA and I’m 4 years old. Do I look familiar? Yup, I’m still at the Annexe. I don’t get it. I’m a healthy, sassy, beautiful young lady.

I have all the volunteers exceptionally well trained — they pretty much do what I want at this point. But I want to go home! I want to play with you and follow you around.

I want you to give me lots of treats and I want you to love me forever. So…are you coming?

Almost 5 years old this little chihuahua guy is not just a pretty face... but a lot more! He is small but mighty with a sweet yet quirky personality.

Chilli is athletic, he loves to go jogging or to play fetch in a fenced-in yard. He adores going places, anywhere, in a bag, in a purse, in the car. But he can also be a couch potato and hang out on the deck in the sun, in his bed, or in your bed.

He is affectionate, loveable, cuddly and too cute for words.Chili is obsessed with humans, ALL humans ALL ages. He craves and needs human company ALL of the time. Chili’s love of people will make him great dog for pet therapy. His ability to snuggle, his cuteness factor, his exaggerated ears, put a smile on people’s faces.

When left alone he will bark and possibly get himself into trouble. His new family will have to be patient and able to work further on his elevated level of separation anxiety. He is a little guy who lacks self-confidence and although he is leash reactive when he sees new dogs on the street, he would do best with a laid-back, confident small dog in the house.

Chili can only handle dogs less than 8 pounds, he is terrified of the bigger ones!Chili is housetrained especially in the warmer months as long as he has a regular schedule, however the winter is cold for him and some days he just can’t get out there, so pipi pads are mandatory.

He is in great health, neutered, up to date on vaccines and microchipped.

Morris is a friendly young cat (about 10 months) that was abandoned during moving time in June.

He is affectionate, interactive, and loves to play. Gerdy had him neutered and vaccinated.

Here is Elvis! He is a very special cat who was found as a stray, starving and very nervous. His beautiful white fur is now soft and silky. His eyes are a magnificent blue.

He is an indoor cat who is only a year and a half old and who looks forward to endless belly rubs and gentle pats from his new human!

He has never been aggressive, always a loving cat who needs and gives love in return.

Kaya’s looks defy the note on her file that she is a mix of Pomeranian and long haired Chihuahua, we think this elegant beauty may be a Papillon mix. She is 6 1/2 years old and 20+ lbs.

Kaya came to Gerdys quite terrified from the abandonment but has slowly become more social, following her foster mom everywhere. Once she knows you Kaya loves to cuddle up on the sofa, wags her tail for more loving and gives kisses.

She LOVES her doggie friends at the foster home and would probably do well living with one. Kaya barks at the doorbell and at any strange noises outside so should live in a home vs. an apartment. She is used to a fenced-in backyard where she loves to race around and favours tug of war with a rope toy.

An experienced dog family, no young children (16 +) and a house with a fenced-in yard would make a match for Kaya. She is sterilized, vaccinated.

I am a very sweet neutered and vaccinated 13 year old boy whose beloved mistress has passed away. I was dearly loved and Gerdy promised me I would be loved again and would be safe.

I am SUCH a sweet cattie, and I do not act my age! I am in good shape, I do my yoga exercises every morning and night. Maybe you & I can do them together! I am very cuddly and a very good listener to any troubles you may have, I also like classical music but not opera, just easy listening to go to sleep.

All I need is a spot in the warm sun on your carpet or in a window, I will wait for you to come home from work and YOU can massage my toes after my hard day waiting for you to come back to me. I ask for nothing but your love and eats, maybe a few cat treats!

Lady is a dear and dainty girl, very feminine, and petite in build. Vaccinated, she will be spayed shortly under Gerdy’s. Lady was a very fortunate girl, she was found in Verdun outside, pregnant and abandoned, yet she herself is little more than a kitten.

Due to her life on the street and trying to survive, she is terrified of other cats and dogs, but she LOVES people! She would like to be the only cat in the family with no dogs.

She LOVES to be held and purrs contentedly, people to her are WONDERFUL! A beautiful domestic longhair, she is still somewhat of a baby herself, but very elegant and regal.

Miss is a sweetheart of a cat, needing a new home because for the first time in her 11 years she is no longer getting along with the other cats of the family.

She is very affectionate to her humans, adapts well to new environments and adores being around everything you do. She has no current medical issues requiring medication, but she does have a cleft palate which needs to be monitored.

Miss is sterilised and has been vaccinated (may not be up to date). Not declawed, and is a solely indoor cat. She however, does do well on leash in a backyard setting but needs to be supervised.

I am a dear little chap, I was born January 24, 2016, and I am a black LAB MIX male with a tiny spot of white on my chest. I weigh 32 pounds right now. My paws are a good size so if that is an indication, I will be a good size adult when grown.

The reason I was given up to Gerdy’s is because I was bought by a senior couple who now find a puppy too much work to keep up to at their age. I am neutered and vaccinated, and all set to have my very own family who will love me forever!

I am a sweet girl and very deserving of a loving and secure home. I had a rough start in life, giving birth to 10 puppies when I was a puppy myself of 8 months old and I was rescued by a concerned person from a bad situation! I am now 16 months old.

With Gerdys Rescue I was sterilized—no more puppies for me and received everything that I need, vaccines, good food etc. I am a tiny girl, mix of Boxer and Pit bull and weigh only 35 lbs. I have a lovely nature, I am very affectionate, and will be so grateful to find people who will give me real love I love all people big and small.

I am best with no other pets i.e. NO CATS, NO DOGS in the household for now as I need to work on my doggie socialization skills, and would do really well if you had a backyard for me to run around in and play.

Tigger is a senior citizen ( 14 years young and still has a full coat of pale orange and white fur) looking for a loving home to retire in. He was rescued as a kitten from the urban jungle in New York City and quickly became a loving and loyal friend to his owner. He loves catnip and catnaps, and doesn't like being brushed.

Initially a bit wary of strangers, he will adjust and he loves nothing more than cuddling with his person or perhaps trying to sit on their head if they are positioned just so on the couch. He would do best as the only pet in the home or perhaps one other cat.

Ideally no children or children old enough not to tug at him. All he needs is a lot of love and attention right now, which unfortunately his current owners are no longer able to provide. He is declawed on his front paws and has all his vaccinations ( for an indoor cat).

He loves to sneak outside but has never really on his own out there. He has a favourite stuffed animal and we can provide a litter box and cat carrier if required as well as his pet bed.

Sumbul is a big, handsome, neutered black male, likely around five or six years old. He appeared in the neighbourhood, all skin and bones, and very frightened of people.

It didn't take him long to get over his fear and to gain some weight - a little bit too much. Sumbul is very affectionate and can't get enough of head and neck scratches - if you think you're finished brushing or petting him, he may disagree and will pull on your hand for more.

Sumbul gets along well with other cats, the dog and children. His picture doesn't do him justice, but it's hard to photograph a black cat.

Wallace is a fabulous big black and white neutered male. As you can see from his photo, he has some battle scars. He was the dominant male in a feral colony, except he wasn't feral. Some catnip and attention was all he needed to start following me around and when he showed up with a large abscess on his face, I brought him home.

Wallace needs a home where he will be the only cat - and he doesn't like dogs either. Wallace is FIV+. I had his teeth removed as he was having some gum issues (common for FIV+ cats) and his mouth has been fine since then. He recently developed urinary crystals, and has to be on a special diet (CD) that can be purchased at a vet clinic; he is fine as long as he eats only that food.

Wallace had a tough life on the street. I have always found that the biggest, toughest street males turn out to be the most loving cats, and Wallace is no exception. He is a wonderful cat who loves giving head butts and getting lots of good head scratches. He is a special cat who needs a special home.

Meet Cocoa, a 5 year old, 13 pound, male, miniature dachshund. Cocoa is a lovely example of his breed. He is energetic, loving and very social. He loves dogs and loves to play.

Cocoa is 100% house trained, can stay alone during the work day and can keep himself busy sleeping, playing with his toys etc. He weights 13 pounds and is happy and healthy.

He is the alarm system when people come to the front door, and does bark excited to see who is on the other side of the door. A family dog that would do well in a busy household. No apartments for this watch dog. Kids 10+.

Meet Peanut, an 8 year old, 5 lb chihuahua who after being abandoned by his first family and left at a shelter, was adopted by an elderly person who after 8 months became ill and the family dumped him once again at another shelter.

Understandably he is very sad and in need of a stable home where he can feel safe and certain that he will be loved forever. His is super friendly, low energy, and loves other dogs. Peanut is housetrained but in winter on very cold days he prefers to stay in the house and use his pee pad. Due to neglect from former owners, Peanut’s teeth were in bad shape and although he is left with only a few, he still LOVES to eat.

An experienced family, with another dog, kids 13+, and a house vs. an apartment (he can be a bit vocal), would be the best situation for Peanut to thrive in. Peanut is sterilized, vaccinated, microchipped.

Dina is a 4 year old mini poodle weighing in at just under 6 pounds. She was bought off the internet by a woman who, after a few days, decided not to keep her and brought her to a local pound. This tiny dancer is a bit timid at first but warms up in an instant and loves to be held.

Dina loves other dogs and should live with another pooch her size. She requires minimal exercise, is not a barker and is housetrained. Because Dina is tiny, fragile and timid her best match would be a home with no children under 16, and somebody around a good part of the day. She is vaccinated, microchipped, sterilized.

“Hi, my name is Harley and I am a 5 year old, 57 pound Gordon Setter/Lab mix. I guess you figured it out, I was named after the motorcycle! I am a relaxed and affectionate dog looking for a new family to be part of as my owner is moving to Europe and can not take me with her.

I have learned how to walk on a leash very nicely, I can sit, stay, lie down, roll over, give a high five, play dead, and come to you on command. I really like to impress my owner and listen to their every need. I am not picky when it comes to food and I have learned to mind my own business while others are eating.

I love meeting new people and other dogs, I go to the dog parks frequently and play the whole time. Did I mention that I am REALLY good at fetch? If you can throw a Frisbee, I will run at lightning speed to get it back to you.

On the other hand, when I am at home, I am the most relaxed dog and love to sleep all day. Cuddles are my weakness, along with chasing squirrels. I can probably live with another dog and with children 8 plus. I am up to date with vaccines and I am neutered.”

This magnificent 11 year old standard Poodle is feeling kind of grey these days. His devoted owner is ill and Grey had nowhere to go until Gerdys stepped up to the plate.

There is still a lot of life left in this boy—he still LOVES his walks, strolling in the park and even running around! He is obedient, totally affectionate and a wonderful soul. He is quiet, housetrained, good with kids and nice with other dogs.

Grey is up to date on vaccines, neutered and has been well taken care of all of his life. He currently lives with another dog in his foster home.A family with a flexible schedule, someone retired who loves this breed, or someone who works from home would be ideal for this boy. No cats please!

Gorgeous, three year old male Rottweiler, who was found outside on the coldest day of the year.
Polo most probably never lived inside a warm home, so he should not be left alone, and will need some training for his toilet habits.

He is a smart and obedient dog, so it should be an easy task, and well worth the effort. He has been living at a shelter, so he would be so grateful to have some freedom and love.

NO CATS for Polo, as he has a strong prey drive, evidenced by his reaction to squirrels and cats while being walked. Polo is a real people dog – loves to be with humans, and really wants to please. He’ll need a fenced in yard, and will enjoy just sitting by your side.

Cashmere: (Calico) Her name says it all; she has the softest fur you’ve ever touched! She likes to play hard to get but once you have her; she adores an endless belly rub.

She has never been outside, is sterilized and declawed in the front. She is missing a small part of her upper left lip, however this does not affect her in any way. Cashmere is 12 years old.

He is estimated to be about 5 years old, very calm and is very sweet. Loves to eat bananas and berries, and loves to sit in your lap. Gets along well with cats and small dogs.

Lilly is a pretty, spayed, short-haired female - white with grey tabby markings, and lovely eyes. Lilly may have been lost or dumped, and she joined a feral colony.

She is a sweet girl who is quite curious, and she likes to walk up and flop down on her side at your feet. She loves to be brushed and get a lot of attention, but she may be a bit shy until she knows you.

I think she will blossom when she is in a home where she will get more attention. Lilly is fine with all cats, but she doesn't like dogs.

Sox is an adorable little black and white neutered male. He was dumped in a local park and left him to fend for himself. He is a mischievous and fun little guy - he is chasing his tail as I type and he is around five years old.

Sox wants to be the centre of attention and likes to give and receive lots of affection and cuddles. He is great with children and dogs, but can be territorial with other cats.

This sweet and delightful girl is a Golden Retriever, 9 years of age. She is spayed, vaccinated, heartworm negative.

Lady lives up to her name, well behaved, and friendly to all. A beautiful girl with a huge heart!

Mickey is looking for a very specific forever home. This one year old pug mix was not treated very well in his original home, his life had a bad start. In his foster home, things have turned around significantly, where he is getting the love, training and attention he needs.

Mickey is fearful at first but warms up quickly. His pattern is to attach himself to one or two people in the household and then he will loyally stick by their side like velcro. Basically he is a cuddly, affectionate boy. He loves other dogs and has benefitted greatly from living with another dog, who shows him the ropes.

That being said, at this point in his progress, he may be fine with no other dog in the home as well. Mickey loves to run and play so a fenced-in yard would be a great asset. if you are willing to give him the time, energy and love that he requires he will be forever grateful and a loyal companion. Kids 16+ who are comfortable and sensitive to a rescue dog.

The foster home will provide a trainer to help ease Mickey into a new home. Mickey is neutered, vaccinated and heartworm tested.

Bubble is a beautiful Bernese Mountain Dog. Gerdy prefers people experienced with this breed. Bubble is 7 years young and is a spayed female, vaccinated. She was only given up due to family matters and the owner could no longer keep her. A very loved girl.

Gerdy was asked to find her a loving forever home. Bubble is a smaller size Berner gal, who is very respectful of people and other dogs, a gentle dog, as fits the breed. Very ladylike, she travelled well in the car, a joy to walk. This is an exceptionally sweet natured Bernese.

This 6 year old adorable, albeit chubby, Pomeranian was with his first family since he was 8 weeks old.
Left at a shelter because they are travelling he is not used to being without his people. This is a sweetheart of a dog, not used to being alone for long hours who is housetrained on both on pee pads and outside.

According to the former owners he is used to children and loves to play with other dogs. So a house and no apartments for this guy. A fenced-in yard and even another dog so that Léo can exercise and lose some of his surplus 6-8 lbs (he weighs 25 lbs.). He is totally vaccinated, neutered and microchipped.

Hi! My name is Gargouille because I like to sit high up to view my surroundings. I was abandoned awhile ago when my family moved and left me outside. Some wonderful people found me and took me in.

They say I am a great indoor cat who deserves to be cared for and loved. I am very affectionate and easy going, even with the other cat and large dog who live here with me.

The vet estimates that I am about five years old, am neutered and am in great health. The family who rescued me is looking for an extraordinary home for me where I will be treasured and kept inside for the rest of my life.

ROCKY Rocks!

This 1 year old Papillon mix is pretty near perfect. Rocky was abandoned at a local emergency clinic after he broke his paw, as the family had no money to pay for the surgery.

His cast is off, he is now healed and is slowly ready to rock again. This little guy has the sweetest nature. He is affectionate with humans, loves other dogs and is totally adorable. He is both housetrained and pee pad trained and so far we haven’t heard him bark.

Rocky would do very well almost anywhere but our preference would be a home with another dog, a young family, flexible hours. Rocky is neutered, vaccinated.

This sweet male Chihuahua X was born January 13, 2016 and is 14 weeks old. He is the dearest wee boy, cheerful, optimistic and playful.

He had been dropped off at a vet and left there abandoned because they did not want to pay the bill.

This lovely girl is 3 years old and she is a Labrador Retriever Mix. Bea was surrendered by her owner and is a very nice all around dog, very deserving of a good home.

She is spayed, vaccinated, heartworm tested negative and all good to go to a loving new home. Be a Bea Keeper for life with this girl!

Quincy is a sweet, friendly, goofy (approx.) 4 year old male Cocker Spaniel. He likes his dog and people friends equally and overall has an innocent nature.
Found as a stray, we don’t know much about his past but his foster Mom adores him and reports that he his easy to be around.

If left alone too long he does get anxious, makes sense, as he has been separated from his old life, but he is not destructive just sad. He is active, likes to walk and would do well with another dog, a fenced-in yard and children 12 + he is vaccinated, sterilized and heart worm tested. He weighs approx. 31 lbs.

  George (now Gustav)

Hi, my name is George and I was abandoned in the forest on a country road. I guess they thought that since I have a few extra pounds on me I can survive for a while on my own. Unfortunately they did not consider the fact that I am declawed on all 4 paws and I cannot hunt or defend myself from predators such as coyotes and other cats.

I was finally found at night. I was covered with ice and snow from the freezing rain that happened that day. Luckily the plow had not yet passed otherwise I would have surely been buried alive. I was taken in to a warm place where I was shy and timid for a few days.

I am now very friendly, curious, affectionate and playful. I like to sit by the window and watch the birds outside. When they talk to me I like to talk back and I love to be brushed. I am a beautiful boy who is neutered and clean. I don’t mind other cats either. If you would like me in your life please call my rescuer.

Gyzmo’s activity level and spirit certainly defy his age.
This adorable 10 year chihuahua mix is actually a 10/10! He is sweet, active, friendly, super smart and knows a lot of commands e.g. sit, lay down, give paws .... and roll over !!!!

He adores running in the yard and loves his ball but his favourite activity is certainly snuggling. This 14 lb. winner is housebroken, vaccinated, sterilized. He loves cats and dogs and can live with kids 10 plus.

We highly recommend another dog in the house as Gyzmo doesn’t love being alone too long but is easily comforted with the company of his foster sisters. So a house with a fenced yard, another dog and a family with a flexible schedule, would be great.

Charlot is an extremely sweet 4 year old mini schnauzer mix. Charlot loves to cuddle, loves his doggie friends and adores playing with cats.
He is quite active, likes to chase after a ball and likes to go for short walks.

Charlot is sometimes a bit fearful of strangers when he first meets them but warms up quickly. His ideal home would be a family with older children, another dog and/or cat, a fenced-in yard and some prior dog experience. He is vaccinated, sterilized, heartworm tested and weighs 21 lbs.

My name is Molly and I am a charming two year old, Bichon/Terrier mix. I am playful, affectionate, very intelligent and energetic. I so looove to run and be active. But most of all I love belly rubs and cuddling.

Unfortunately sad things happened in my short life leaving me nervous when I meet new people, especially men. As well, I have been attacked by dogs and so my first reaction is to charge them, but if they are calm and non-threatening I am ok.

But my biggest fear is to be abandoned again...I am afraid to stay home alone. My little body has a strong voice and I am vocal when left on my own. So, no apartments for me and preferably another small calm and confident dog to help me work on these fears.
I like to chase squirrels, so no cats please as I would probably want to chase them too.

If you have lots of dog experience and are willing to put in some time to work on my weaknesses, I promise to work hard with you. In return for your patience and love I will steal your heart. Please: no kids.

I am sterilized and up to date with vaccines.

This energetic and very friendly neutered and vaccinated boy is a 62 pound Shepherd mix–still a pup at 10 months old. A bundle of energy, so a securely fenced-in backyard where Sparkie can run and play with you would be ideal.

He is a jolly boy more suited to teens or older adolescents. His previous family no longer had time for him and felt they were leaving him in his crate too long. He is a super sweet dog and they say he plays well with other dogs but too rough for most dogs and too energetic for a cat.

This is a highly intelligent boy who knows many commands already and a little more work would make him the perfect dog. Put some SPARK in your life!

Our Mr Handsome is about a year old, a personable HOUND MIX, a nice medium size boy. He is being neutered under Gerdy’s Rescues & is vaccinated. He is currently being treated for Lyme Disease but is doing fine! Hank is VERY people oriented and good with adults and children.

Hank came to Gerdy’s as a dog found abandoned on a highway, the woman who stopped and saved him from death or injury took care of him then called Gerdy to find him a good home where he’d be secure and loved—Hank has a lot to offer a family! He needs a securely fenced yard to play in as hounds wander if loose, even a mixed breed.

Hank must be the only animal in the home as he has an issue ONLY with other animals at meal time, after all he has been through. He will try to guard his food bowl from another animal, but is fine with humans near his bowl at mealtime. Hank has a fear of starving and having to compete for food. This is a VERY intelligent dog, eager to learn obedience and tricks, he is a fast learner! A cutie for sure!

This delightful LAB MIX pup, born July 15th 2015, is beautiful! Like all Labs, she is active and a sweet natured girl who gets along with cats and other dogs, as well as humans. She has a beautiful coat that is wavy along her back.

Her rescuer named her DAISY, and has also taught super smart Daisy to Sit, Lie Down, Paw, Other Paw, Fetch, Jump thru a Hoop, Go bring the leash, Wait for food—so far! Daisy is VERY intelligent.

If kept to a routine and gets lots of exercise (Labs are active) she will mature wonderfully to become a great companion in every way, it takes YOU making an effort as dogs do not teach themselves manners!

She is now spayed, vaccinated and dewormed. About 55 lbs right now, is estimated to reach about 70 pounds when full grown. Daisy is waiting to give her heart to someone as special as she is!

Oliver is a healthy 8 year old neutered special needs male cat, with claws (will gladly be held like a baby to have them cut). I am moving to Switzerland for work, and after much debate and research have concluded that it is best for Oliver to find a new home, rather than start touring the world with me.

He is a fluffy indoor cat who adores people (a little skittish around younger children since he's used to my quiet boring lifestyle) and gets along with the other pets he has met. He has been on a special urinary diet since he was young, due to urinary crystals, but he's never shown any signs of recurrence in over 7 years.

I understand that special food can be costly, and am willing to pay for the food on an ongoing basis (would most likely order for home deliver to the new family).

Calling all Daschund lovers. Oliver is a gorgeous 1 1/2 year old Doxie whose owner had no time to give him.
He spent the first part of his life in a crate many hours of the day and night and now in his foster home is experiencing love and attention for the first time.

His unusual light taupe coloured coat make him a standout. He is a good natured boy, still puppyish, who with a little bit of input will be a great pet. As much as he likes company, he is also independent and will find his own space to relax in. As active as he can be he likes equally to sleep and watch t.v.

He would be a great match for someone familiar with the breed, they love their people but are more circumspect with other dogs. He can live with another dog of his choice. He is both pee pad trained and goes outside. He is neutered, vaccinated and ready for a new loving home.

Petunia is possibly the world’s prettiest Beagle, diminutive in size (about 18 lbs,), with an usual multi-coloured coat. She is 10 + years young and was surrendered by her owner, who had her since she was a pup, because of a change in lifestyle and lack of time.

Unlike many Beagles she is a quiet girl who hardly barks ...but maybe that’s because she’s hard of hearing. Petunia is used to living in an apartment where her owners let her “do her business" on the balcony or on a peed pad, when they had no time to walk her. So access to the outdoors onto a balcony or a fenced yard will ensure that she maintains her housetraining.

Although quite independent, she is friendly with other dogs and would do fine living with a canine friend - one who is a match to her moderate energy level. Petunia would do well with a family who has the time to spend with her tossing a ball or just hanging out.

If you are thinking of a senior, Petunia is ready for a new start going into her retirement years. She is spayed, vaccinated and has just had a full dental.

Hi Folks! I was born on April 18, 2014 so am just under 2 years old. I am a male LAB/HUSKY MIX, vaccinated and neutered, and all set to go to a loving home for the rest of my life.

I am good with other dogs and people, untried with cats. I was given up ONLY due to illness in my human family, I am a great family dog and a handsome young man as well, ready to give you my
heart and devotion.

Ruby Tuesday

Meet Ruby Tuesday, a 2 1/2 year old mix of a lot of things (we guess shepherd, dobie, lab etc.). Unfortunately her owner who has had her since she was a pup is moving overseas to a new life and can not take her with him. She is smart, she is active, she is curious and willing to learn new things.

Ruby understands a few basic commands and responds to a small vocabulary of human words. She loves to walk and run and although she is a higher energy girl she is okay staying alone at home for part of the day as well as relaxing on the couch.

Overall this is a happy dog that would do well with a single person who wants a loyal companion, or an active family with teenagers who like the outdoors. She would do well with obedience classes and ultimately be a great candidate for agility classes. She is sterilized and up to date with vaccines.

Meet Caesar, a big name for a little sweetheart! Caesar is a 6 year old Mini-Schnauzer who is an easy going, gentle natured boy who just loves to please.
He would prefer the company of another dog at home as he has expressed some displeasure at being alone too long.

Caesar is pretty well a turnkey dog, ready to be loved, played with, exercised, and cuddled. He is housetrained but if necessary on sub-zero days or out of necessity, will use a pee pad. Neutered, vaccinated, and ready to go.

Blue is a 6 ½ year old BRITISH LABRADOR female. Typical Lab nature, she is good with people of all ages, loves cats especially, just an all around great family dog and friend of the world.

She was given up because of a necessary move and no dogs allowed. Spayed, vaccinated, Blue is ready to go into the future and is going to make someone very fortunate indeed to have her love and devotion.

Jet came to Gerdy's after he was abandoned by his owners. He is eleven years old, born on June 15. 2004 and in spite of finding himself in new circumstances, he remains friendly and outgoing.

Jet is declawed on all 4 paws. He has been sterilized, vaccinated and tested negative for FIV and he desperately wants a home to grow old where he knows the best is yet to be!

Twinkle is a pretty, white, spayed female. She found herself living in a laneway and was clearly very frightened, and no one claimed her.

She is all about cuddles and fun and games now. She is young, likely around two years old, and is very affectionate. She gets along well with cats, the dog and children.

Hello Chihuahua lovers! My name is Mojo, I'm a 6 year old male Chihuahua. I love humans and I especially love to curl up in a ball on their lap and watch TV. Having my paws touched is not my favourite thing though.

I am a con artist and love to beg for table food, I was spoiled that way in my former home. The proof is my waistline, I weigh 15 lbs! I love to play ball, especially the fetch part, I will give back the toy or ball only if a treat is involved :) I am excited to meet other dogs, especially small ones. I am a great little dog but need an experienced family who will devote some time to my training with positive reinforcement.

I need to work on food and toy possession, becoming completely housetrained—I occasionally mark, and I am a bit vocal. Say Chihuahua and you’re saying drama queen and I am one myself. That said, I am pretty special guy !!! Adult children only, and no apartments.

Simon is an extremely sweet and affectionate Russian Blue that was found in the dead of winter in bad shape.  He was discovered sleeping under a car to stay warm, scared, hungry and haggard.

Simon was brought to a vet where a generous team of people paid for a variety of tests to make sure he was healthy  including blood tests, stool samples and preventive treatments for parasites. Simon was also neutered once he was in better shape and put on a special diet because he was experiencing stomach issues from eating garbage outdoors for so long.

Simon is approximately 2 years old, a big bear, with a luxurious shiny coat and an attachment to people. He is calm, quiet and loves to be pat. He currently resides with another cat and he is an angel with her, not ever showing any aggression. Simon is truly a simple, easy going guy who seems so content just to have a comfortable chair to lie on and a human to cuddle with. In fact this bear sleeps next to me in my bed at night and I am incredibly in love with his sweet nature.

The only reason I am looking to find Simon a home is because I live in a very small apartment with another cat and unfortunately I am not able to support them both on financially on my meager earnings. I am looking for someone who can provide a loving forever home for my beloved Simon.

My name is Scooby, and I sure came a long way... Literally! I'm from Orlando Florida, otherwise known as the Sunshine State. But my life back home was no Disney World and far from sunshiny days. They call me a bully breed, but the only bullies I know are the people who hurt and abused me.

I'm a really sweet, lovable and playful guy and not the bully these mean people wanted me to be. And because of that, they left me outside tied to a rope neglected without food and water, worthy of nothing... all because I don't like to fight with other dogs.

One day, after getting badly hurt I found the courage and strength to chew through my rope while no one was looking, and ran away for help. And that's when I met Juston, a nice young man who was very sad to find me in my condition. He carried me in his arms and into his house and cleaned the blood from the wounds on my body, legs and ears.

Wondering what to do, he made me a bed in his backyard shed and gave me plenty of food and water. As he wasn't sure if I would like his indoor cats, or if they would like me and thought it would be safer. Day by day my wounds began to heal and I started to get stronger thanks to Juston's care. Then suddenly he told me about his cousin Jenny from Canada, who was coming to visit and looking forward to meet me!!!

I greeted her with lots of kisses, as that's what I hear the French Canadians do, and she held me and cried and looked into my eyes and said "I promise no one will ever hurt you again!" So they made it their mission to get me to safety, calling every shelter and rescue group from Florida to Georgia, but with all the same response... "We're full to capacity" and "Good luck, only 1 in 600 pit bulls make it out alive in the south" and they said I would likely be put down.

So Jenny made one last call, to a shelter where she volunteers, the SPCA Montéregie, one of Quebec's greatest no-kill shelters. And they said to her if there's a way she can get me up there, they'll welcome this southern boy with open arms where they'll give me lots of love (and more kisses I guess). And that's when Jenny turned to me and said, "you are going to be that 1 in 600, cause if I can't find you a home in Florida, there will be one in Canada, where they'll see you are one in a million!" And soon after, Juston and Jenny got me onboard a transport making my way towards a new life...

A life of hope and promise, and where I can leave my old one behind, and never have to worry of being in danger again... "Please welcome Scooby to Canada!!! Where he will find fresh start, and new beginning, far, far away from the people who hurt him. And we are hoping to find a wonderful family who will give this little prince the fairytale ending he truly deserves! He is simply the sweetest, most loving little angel you'll ever want to meet, and his sweet southern charm will surely sweep you off your feet!"

(*Scooby is estimated to be 2 years old, current on all vaccines, with recent health certificate and is scheduled to be neutered. He is gets along very well with other dogs and is quite submissive, and has shown no signs of aggression. Since he has not lived indoors to our knowledge, we are unsure if housebroken, and assume he is friendly with children from his sweet disposition).

We are desperately looking for a home for our dog, Pretty. She is an 8 year old pitbull that is a lovable ball of energy. We have until March 6th to do so and if you are willing to foster, adopt her or even share with anyone you know, anything helps.

Pretty loves to snuggle, is house trained and doesn't destroy anything when no one's home. She is fixed and up to date on her shots. The reason why we've had a hard time rehoming her is that she doesn't get along with other pets and isn't used to children. We have found a trainer who is available to train her for free to whoever opens their heart and home to her.

I am a handsome, sweet big baby of a Chocolate Lab, a neutered and vaccinated male, 4 years old, born July 3, 2011. SUPER affectionate, cheerful, and well behaved, calm.

I show my heart and soul in my eyes with my gentle and relaxed nature, I’m an easy-going dude for sure! HOUSETRAINED and good in the car Gerdy found. I was loved in my previous home but they had not enough time to devote to me anymore as I deserved-- with not enough exercise, I am pushing the scales at 86 pounds when 75 would be about right for me.

So I am figuring you n’me can reach our weight goals together, bonding as we walk and play and end the day me asleep at your feet or up on the sofa curled up together. I am dog friendly with other good natured dogs and trusting with people, a typical lab. Just an all around great guy who is waiting for YOU!

  Calico Cat

I am a beautiful little Calico cat looking for my forever home. Spayed and in good health, I am only six years old. Since I am timid by nature, I am an indoor cat!

Do you have a calm, quiet and loving home for me? Oh yes, one more thing, no children for me, they scare me!

  Rupert & Snuggles (Bonded Pair)

The short hair orange cat is Rupert, the male .
He's a little chunkster and blind in one eye. Very affectionate - loves getting his tummy rubbed. He's friendly and great with my son.

The long hair multi colour cat is Snuggles, the female. She's beautiful . Very friendly and loves to stretch out on ur lap. Both are very sweet and must have been living together for a long time bc they are inseparable. Constantly lying together and cleaning one another.

Catsby is a handsome, neutered male with medium-length hair. He's a big boy and looks part Maine Coon. Catsby was living in a garage in a laneway for over a year, before I brought him in.

He is likely 4 - 5 years old and is very healthy. He loves attention and wants to be a lap cat. Catsby would do well in a home without dogs or other male cats. He tends to give "love nips" when cuddling, so a home without children would be best.

Preston is a handsome, neutered brown tabby with striking green eyes. He was literally hanging on my living room screen window one very cold night - he wanted to come in where it was warm.

No one claimed him. He is likely 4 -5 years old and is a laid-back guy, although he likes to play too. He gets along with other cats, and the dog, and is great with kids.

Ruby is a very shy, spayed female. She is black with a cute white tuft on her chest, and is around three years old. Ruby was abandoned or dumped along with a young black and white male cat (who has already found his new home).

She likes to be near people but doesn't want to be touched. But when you pet her, she starts to purr - she just needs to be reminded that she likes being petted. Ruby needs to be in a home that will be patient with her while she gets comfortable and where she will have at least one cat friend.

Rufus is a giant bundle of orange tabby love who has just moved inside because of the cold weather, after being fed on my porch for several months. He is going to be neutered so those fabulous jowls will be getting smaller.

He is probably less than two years old (he was not jowly when he first started hanging around). Rufus is good with the other cats but he actively dislikes the dog, so a home without dogs is a must. He wants to be a lap cat for sure.

Albert, an adorable Yorkie is 6 1/2 years old is the survivor of a puppy mill. Independent and affectionate, great with other small dogs and definitely a big dog personality in a small dog body. Albert would do best in a home with other small dogs and someone home a good deal of the time. Not completely housetrained he would do best with a backyard where he can be let out frequently to do his business. Kids 10+. Neutered, up to date on vaccines.

Walter is a 3 year old Tibetan Terrier. Sweet, smart, obedient and quite near perfect. Walter is good with kids, cats, dogs. He loves his walks, loves to play and can stay alone. He is great match for a single, or a family. He is neutered, vaccinated and housetrained.
