SADLY AT 9+ YEARS OLD, CAFÉ NEEDS TO BE RE-HOMED
This senior boy is looking for a new home.
Re-homed 2 years ago because his elderly owner fell ill, his current family has tried very hard to make it work but he is too stressed in their environment. This adorable tan and white Shih Tzu needs a family experienced with fussy small breed dogs.
Café is well-behaved, obedient and friendly for the most part. He can be affectionate, cuddly and even a lap dog but also has a very independent side and needs his personal space respected. His new owners will have to be savvy and be able to read his body language. He is very selective with other dogs but will engage in play from time to time. He currently lives with another small dog.
He is low energy, although a senior he is still very agile, but does love to be outside on a short walk or out in the garden. Café walks nicely on the leash but can be leash reactive. He is excited to meet and greet new people in his home, but needs an intro outside the door or on the balcony first.
He was suffering from a skin condition which has been solved and is now under control. All that is needed is a medicated shampoo bath every week to 10 days, which he adores! He is great at both vet visits and at the groomer. Café is housetrained and asks to go out as well as asks for his food when close to meal time.
An ideal placement for Café would be an experienced, patient single woman or a couple in a calm environment who are home a lot–not gone for more than 3-4 hours. A house or a ground floor apartment with a fenced garden for him to wander in is preferable. No kids, no cats (no history). Café is neutered, vaccinated.
