This 6 year old boy has had a rough time until now. He was badly neglected in his home, left for long hours in a cage in the basement, in the dark and undernourished. He came to the SPCA emaciated. Now rescued to safety, slowly but surely he is gaining weight, and learning to be loved and cuddled, something he has never had the opportunity to experience.

Dusty is super sweet, and super smart. He likes to work and be kept busy. Mind games, treat distributors and exercise make him happy. Not used to being fed enough with his original family, he is quite the food “hound” and is therefore easily motivated by treats. He likes to sniff, explore and wander so he requires a house with a securely fenced-in yard. He can be anxious at times but does settle down. A calm, stable environment is imperative.

Dusty needs someone home part-time, with flexible hours or who can take him to work with them as he isn’t happy being separated from his humans for too long and doesn’t like being confined. This boy is good with other dogs and not yet tested with cats. We recommend children 16+, and a house vs. an apartment or condo. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and weighs 9.25 kg. He is almost housetrained but still needs some work in this area (he spent a good part of his life in a cage).

Needs work on basic commands, being left alone and housetraining. Most importantly he needs commitment, love, and stability.
