You can make a world of difference in the life of a neglected or abandoned animal. Fostering is step one and one of the most important and rewarding aspects of animal rescue. While waiting for their forever home, our animals get the benefit of a home environment.
The process is simple: Contact us (see contact form) and we will respond by email with a questionnaire that will assist us in determining the kind of foster animal appropriate for your home. Together we will find a perfect match.
An animal can stay in foster anywhere from weeks to months. Some animals require rest in a quiet environment after surgery, some need behavioural training, some need an urgent placement when pulled from a shelter. Gerdy’s will supply food and any necessary vet care needed during the foster period.
Your feedback is the invaluable information that we need to be able to place your foster pet in the best possible forever home. You will make a tremendous impact, add value and enrich each animal’s life. It’s a very rewarding experience!
Some basic requirements to foster:
- You will not foster for other groups while fostering for Gerdy’s
- Your personal pets must be spayed/neutered and fully vaccinated
- You must have time to care for a foster pet and have someone home most of the day
- Have access to transportation for the pet
- You must agree to abide by our foster agreement
