THE HUSTLE AND BUSTLE OF MONTREAL IS PROVING TO BE TOO MUCH FOR THIS CARIBBEAN ISLAND DUDE.
As a puppy, Theó was swept off the street in the Caribbean and brought to Montreal to have a chance at a cushy domestic life via a foreign adoption agency. Paired with a caring person wanting to give a better life to this orphan, Théo’s luck was about to change. There is a long list of wonderful things about this boy to name a few: smart, playful, affectionate, quiet, loves people, content to stay alone for several hours, housetrained, loves to nap and overall, a pleasure to have around. He likes to cuddle on the couch while watching TV and is by far the best “spooner” during the night. Théo loves to play in the snow and to swim. He is a silly and goofy dog, and everyone who meets him immediately falls in love. Unfortunately, he has a noise phobia, possibly the remnants of being born on the street and fighting to survive with engines whirring by his head. His current mom lives in a very dense, busy quartier with lots of cars, motorcycles, trucks and busses. The noise makes him anxious and unwilling to walk. What he needs is a sleepy neighbourhood in the suburbs avoiding traffic and congestion. When walked on quiet streets he manages well and enjoys his walks.Until a few months ago, Théo has loved other dogs and his playtime at the dog park. Something spooked him and his fear has overcome him. The walks to the park on busy city streets stress him out so much that on arrival, he redirects this anxiety on other dogs. He may need a reset! Being a young dog, Theo has a lot of energy. He is able to play by himself with interactive toys indoors but he needs to expend energy in a fenced yard fetching balls or doing zoomies.
He is a young 1 ½ year old mix of many things (Lab, Dalmatian-your guess). This white knight will make a great companion for an adult family living in the burbs or in a rural area. He needs work on curbing his “jumping for joy” when he meets new humans.Théo is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped. He weighs 25 kg. (55 lbs.). He is blind from birth, in one eye.
STRICT REQUIREMENTS:-a house in a quiet suburban neighbourhood-kids 14 plus-maybe ok with a dog-friendly cat-willing to work on leash walking and jumping (we would offer a few sessions with a trainer)-a secure fenced yard (6 ft.); and if a pool, it must be fenced separately.
