Everyday is Avena’s Best Day!
Some puppies are born into loving homes. Others have to wait for their chance. Avena is one of the lucky ones.
While visiting Guatemala, a compassionate woman discovered Avena living in a barn and knew she deserved a better life. She brought her to safety, and now this nine-month-old, 27-pound sweetheart is ready to find the family she has been waiting for. We believe she is an Irish Terrier, Border Terrier, and Labrador Retriever mix.
Avena is everything you hope for in a young dog. Friendly, affectionate, and endlessly happy to be with people, she loves being handled and never turns down an opportunity for cuddles. She gets along beautifully with other dogs, adores cats, and approaches new friends with confidence and enthusiasm.
She attended puppy classes and already knows some basic commands. She is house trained, enjoys car rides, loves her walks, and is happiest when included in everyday life. Like most puppies her age, she is still a work in progress. She is learning that people appreciate greetings with four paws on the ground and would benefit from continued practice with leash walking. With her intelligence and eagerness to please, she is sure to catch on quickly.
Sweet, silly, and full of charm, Avena has left her difficult beginning behind. Now all she needs is a family that will continue to guide her, laugh at her puppy antics, and love her for the wonderful dog she is becoming.
Avena is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and house-trained. Because she is an enthusiastic greeter who can jump up, she would be best suited to a home with children aged 10 to 12 and older. If the home has a pool, it must be separately fenced in accordance with current safety regulations.
