DERBY’S LOOKING FOR HAPPINESS
Sadly, and suddenly DERBY’S owner recently passed away. Although only together for 2 years, they were a team and the loss was traumatic for Derby, she was glued to her side until the very end. A family member is fostering her right now and has shared with us some of Derby’s wonderful qualities.
Derby would be a great companion one-on-one. She is affectionate, asks to be petted and gladly returns your affection. She does like other dogs and could possibly live with a confident, respectful one. She enjoys her hour-long walks, greeting other dogs and people, but especially loves the opportunity to sniff her way around the securely fenced backyard. She is gentle with children and could live with kids 10 plus.
Derby spent the first few of her 6 years confined to a kennel as a breeding dog before she was adopted. She was rarely left alone with her most recent owner who, because of the pandemic restrictions, provided her with a human presence 24/7. As a result, Derby gets anxious when left alone too long and will need work in this area.Untypical of her breed she is not much of a barker/howler and for the most part is calm. Derby needs a patient and caring owner who will work with her few shortcomings.
Derby is 6 years old, vaccinated, spayed, microchipped and weighs 22 lbs.
