LUCAS IS THE STRONG SILENT TYPE
Lucas, a Yorkie/Terrier mix, is approximately 1 year old and weighs 14 lbs. Seized with 12 other dogs from a backyard breeder, Lucas was never socialized with humans. However over the past months socializing with our volunteers and visitors, he has come around nicely, happy to see people he now knows and is taking treats galore from them.
Timid in new circumstances, with new noises and shy with new people, he will observe from the corner of the room. Although Lucas doesn’t mind being petted and he can now be picked up and cuddled, he is still a “four on the floor” type of guy. Lucas loves other dogs,
especially small ones. He loves to play chase, fetch the ball or just gnaw on a chew toy.
Harbouring many of the characteristics of a puppy mill dog, Lucas could be a flight risk and needs an experienced (with fearful dogs) and patient family who will allow him the time it will take to bond and become more confident. Lucas must be adopted together with a member of his pack (see ROBIN, RICKY or TRIXIE).
He is now used to a leash and harness and going for walks. He was fearful at first, but then when following another confident dog, he was a champ! He will need work on his housetraining.
Lucas is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.
