With heavy hearts, our sweet boy Milou crossed the Rainbow Bridge at 4:30pm on November 27, 2025. Milou adopted us as his family on March 24th, 2012 as a 5 or 6yr old boy. For the next 13yrs he was the center of the household. Milou was hesitant at first to fully trust us, spending most evenings in his crate. Within a week though he had ventured up to our bedroom and would not take no for an answer to sleep with his mom and dad at the bottom of the bed. Soon, he was sleeping under the covers at his daddy’s feet. When age would no longer allow him to jump up onto the bed, he would sleep in his own bed, always on his daddy’s side, so they could see each other first thing in the morning.
Milou loved to be warm and would sleep for hours in his daddy’s lap or on his mommy’s blanket. He loved to play fetch with a ball or a squeaky toy or really anything that he could go and get and bring back for more fun! The other thing Milou loved was to be in the sunshine. Milou was his daddy’s unofficial coworker during the years of remote working; he even had his own name tag hung on the wall at his “desk”. His daddy would move his bed around the office in the morning to follow the sun, then set him up on the deck in the afternoon.
Milou was such a good boy, so sweet and gentle, and he is greatly missed everyday. We did our best to provide him with the loving home he so greatly deserved.
Now, although the house is quiet and empty without our great protector, we will always cherish the memories of our good times together, in pictures and videos, since that cold afternoon in Hudson when we were lucky enough that he chose us as his forever family. Like he was always there for us, we were with him to comfort and hold him on his final journey. Rest easy my sweet boy, we love you forever. We’ll see you next at the Rainbow Bridge.
