Foster or Forever Home Needed for Murphie: A Gentle Soul is in Need of a Safe Place to Heal

MURPHIE has a severe luxated patella that prevents him from enjoying the life and exercise of a one year old pup. The prognosis after surgery is great!

Sweet, sensitive Murphie hasn’t had an easy start in life. He’s just a year old, but has already known pain, fear, uncertainty, and the heartbreak of being passed around. What he needs now, more than anything, is a calm, loving home where he can recover in peace and comfort from his upcoming knee surgery to make him perfect.

Murphie will need approximately six weeks of strict crate rest in a quiet environment to allow his knee to heal properly. That means no stairs, no chaos, no rough play, and ideally, someone home for a good part of the day to support his recovery. Gerdy’s will supply everything: food, crate, bedding and will cover all medical expenses.

About Murphie:

Murphie is truly a gentle soul. Once he trusts you, he’s affectionate, cuddly, and loyal. He gets along beautifully with laid-back dogs and is incredibly respectful with cats. He loves his crate, enjoys puzzle toys, and adores curling up on the bed at night.

He’s fully house-trained and will politely let you know when he needs to go out, no accidents, no drama.

That said, Murphie is also anxious. He needs time and patience to settle in. He startles easily, avoids loud voices or fast movements, and prefers to approach you when he’s ready. He has never shown aggression, only a desire to feel safe. He communicates clearly, finds comfort in routine, and thrives in a stable, gentle environment.

Due to a severe allergy to poultry (chicken, turkey, duck), Murphie must remain on a feather-free diet, which he does wonderfully on, as long as it’s strictly followed.

Murphie Needs:
•A foster or adopter with large breed experience
•A ground-floor home with easy access to the outdoors (no stairs)
•A calm, quiet environment, with someone home most of the day
•No high-energy pets who may try to engage him in play while he’s healing

Murphie is 1 year old, neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and weighs approximately 65 lbs.

He’s had a rough start, but we know that with the right support his best days are still ahead. Please help us give Murphie the safe space he needs to heal.
