Sonny – Adopted

Meet Sonny: 73 Pounds of Love, Energy and Potential.

Sonny is only 3½ years old, but through no fault of his own, he has already lost his home.

He was surrendered to a local dog pound after his owner could no longer afford to investigate a medical issue. Gerdy’s Rescue took on his case to determine the cause of intermittent blood in his urine.

Sonny is a beautiful, affectionate and energetic 73-pound Golden Retriever. He is friendly with children, can live with cats, and is selective with other dogs. A playful, respectful canine companion may be a good fit.

He also comes with an excellent foundation. Sonny knows sit, stay, down, paw, play dead, place, jump and come, and he is eager to keep learning.

He is a big, strong, enthusiastic boy who can pull on leash and launch himself into a vertical jump when greeting people. He needs someone experienced with handling and training an excited large-breed dog, including helping him develop better self-control around people and other dogs.

A single-family home with a secure fenced yard would be best. Sonny would love a place where he can run, play fetch and burn off some of his considerable energy. An active family (if with children 12+ ) who understand and love the breed would be ideal. A hybrid work schedule is required.

If there is a pool, it must be separately fenced.
