Tokyo is a striking, 5 ½ year old 9 lb. tricolour Shih Tzu, a compact companion with a truckload of personality.
When Tokyo first arrived, he carried the weight of mistrust, understandable given the challenges he’d faced. He was hesitant, cautious, and unsure of human kindness. But over the past year in a devoted foster home, Tokyo has begun to rewrite his story. Day by day, with steady love and patience, he has transformed. He has met and interacted with dozens of dogs and many people, each experience broadening his world and building his confidence.
Today, Tokyo is a playful, spirited pup who thrives in the company of other dogs. His foster home includes two dog-savvy children, ages 9 and 10 who respect his boundaries and offer affection when he seeks it. Because of this nurturing environment, Tokyo has learned the joy of trust that comes with knowing he is safe. Tokyo would thrive in a home with one other dog to show him the way.
Tokyo still approaches new relationships with caution, but for those willing to invest the time and care, he offers something rare: a loyalty that is deeply earned. Once you’re in his circle, he will be your devoted friend, your quiet shadow, your number one sidekick.
Tokyo is highly food-motivated, which makes training a breeze, as he genuinely wants to please the people he trusts.
He is healthy, up to date on vaccinations, neutered, and microchipped.
