LET’S GET SOMETHING STRAIGHT: I AM NOT A CHIHUAHUA
Yes, people keep calling me a Chihuahua. I get it, I’m small, I’ve got big eyes, and I look like I could fit in a purse. But let me set the record straight: I’m a proud Russian Toy Terrier. Elegant, quirky, and full of personality.
I’m Yuri,11 years old and still trotting proudly through life. Sure, I’m not quite the stunner I used to be as my teeth have retired, my tongue hangs out and my eyes are a little cloudy. I’m not looking for pity. I’m looking for a home that sees me for who I really am: a loyal, feisty little guy with a lot left to give.
I’ve got a playful streak. Toss me a toy, and I’ll bring it back (sometimes). Give me a soft bed, a snack, a few short walks, a yard to hang out in as I love being outdoors, and I’m good. I’m affectionate, but I like to take my time getting to know people. Push me too fast and I might snap but I have no teeth! Mostly, I’m easygoing and enjoy just hanging out.
Sadly, my person had to move into a care facility, and I found myself starting over. Someone home a lot would be ideal as I like company. I do okay alone for a few hours (yes, I bark at first), but I really thrive when I’m with my human. I lived with two kids and we were cool, but I’d probably do best in a home with older kids or none at all. I am doing really well with my foster mom’s small breed dogs.
I am neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. I’m housetrained, and I use pee pads. I love my crate when I need a little quiet time (door open, please). I’m not a high-maintenance diva, but I do expect to be cherished. I’ve earned it.
So, if you’re looking for a little character with a big personality, someone to keep you company, make you smile, and curl up beside you at the end of the day, I just might just be your guy.
