MEET SENIOR MADDIE: ALWAYS A BRIDESMAID, NEVER A BRIDE
At 12 years old, Maddie the miniature Schnauzer has known love, but never forever. Due to no fault of her own, she’s now hoping for her fourth and final home.
Maddie is a classic senior lady who knows exactly what she likes: A soft bed, a calm, stable home and gentle people to adore her. In her most recent home, Maddie adjusted beautifully. Though initially shy, she warms up quickly, especially to anyone offering affection. She follows her people quietly from room-to-room. She’s polite, calm, well-mannered indoors, and completely house-trained. Like many seniors, she does best with frequent potty breaks to avoid accidents.
Maddie walks nicely on leash, enjoys short outings, and spends most of her time peacefully napping. She gets along with people of all ages, though she can be a little reserved around men at first. She’s perfectly fine being handled gently, even by strangers and while she’ll bark when someone enters the home, it’s only to alert.
She’s not toy-obsessed, not a food-guarder, and she’s never destructive. Maddie can be left alone for a few hours and although she might bark or whine briefly, she settles quickly and naps.
Her relationship with other dogs is mixed: she prefers calm, older dogs and needs time to warm up. She has some hearing loss, but she responds well to visual cues like a thigh pat. Maddie is also deeply bonded to her person/people, so much so that she may react protectively if she senses conflict or raised voices, even during playful roughhousing. Because of this, she needs a quiet, low-drama environment where her sensitivity is respected.
After a long road of changes, Maddie is ready to rest. She’s looking for a forever home that offers commitment, a soft landing, a presence in the home and love.
Maddie is fully vaccinated, is not yet spayed, is microchipped. She weighs 12 lbs. Adult children only. No cats. If a yard it must be securely fenced and if a pool it must be fenced separately.
